As we enter 2023, I wanted to continue taking the time to highlight some of the better conferences in the state. I'll take a quick look at the teams at the top, statistical leaders, players on the rise, a top Freshman, plus an under-the-radar recruit. In order to select which conferences get the first glance, I've taken the Sagarin ratings (as of 12/4/22) of each team in each conference and averaged them out to give each conference a "score", if you will. As for individual statistical leaders, I am working off of whatever has currently been provided on MaxPreps. If your team's stats on MaxPreps are incomplete, I apologize, but please ask your coach to put them there if you would like to be considered for stat-based portions in the future.

The Circle City Conference has proven to be a competitive group of teams this season, with Roncalli most recently winning the Plainfield Classic yesterday. The Lady Royals already sit at 3-0 in the conference, with the big win over Heritage Christian back on December 1st. They control their own destiny at this point, but Bishop Chatard and Guerin Catholic present challenges of their own that could derail Roncalli. Heritage Christian has already completed their conference play, so with the loss to Roncalli, they'll need someone to knock off the Royals. Chatard could be that team, as they made a nice run to the Semi-State last year and have some good, young kids helping them this year.

On The Rise: [player_tooltip player_id='496064' first='Mya' last='Davis'], 2024, 5-7 G, Heritage Christian H.S.
- Mya has really exploded this season, averaging a Circle City Conference leading 23.1 points and 4.4 assists per game. She had a strong showing this Fall at out Prep Girls Hoops Indiana Top-250 Showcase, and she has continued that play during the 2022-2023 high school season. Mya is extremely long at her height, she has speed and quickness, and she's showing noticeably more strength. More importantly, she is playing stronger with the ball in her hands, creating scoring opportunities for everyone on the floor, including herself. She has also shot it better from the field. Defensively she can cause problems on or off the ball, as she gets a number of steals/deflections each time out.

Under-The-Radar Recruit: Gabriella Crane, 2023, 5-7 F, Covenant Christian H.S.
- "Ella" has followed a much-improved Junior season with an outstanding Senior year to date. She is a fairly athletic, hard-working forward who plays much bigger than she is. At just 5-7, she has a nose for the ball, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game through 10 games so far this season. Her 13.8 points per game have helped her average a double-double this season, making her one of the most consistently productive players in the Circle City Conference. While she is a little undersized, she could really benefit a small college because of her ability to produce game-in, and game-out. Adding a more consistent perimeter jumper could make Ella that much more difficult to defend.

Impressive Freshman: [player_tooltip player_id='761173' first='Audra' last='Kendall'], 2026, 5-5 G, Brebeuf Jesuit H.S.
- Brebeuf has played several younger players this season, including multiple Freshmen, but Audra stands out because of her ability to affect the game in a variety of ways. First, she is averaging 9.9 points per game through 12 games, leading the Lady Braves. She has also knocked down the 3-pointer consistently, she has created offense and found open teammates, and she rebounds pretty well at her size. Additionally, Audra can defend multiple types of guards and has proven to be a solid defender on or off the ball. As she continues to develop her game, I would anticipate her being a more dynamic playmaker off the dribble.
