The Hockomock league is always competitive. With the league tipping off last night, here we look at 5 players to watch this season. For one thing most teams don't have the size to match up with her. She is more than just tall though. She was one of the most improved players last season, and will look to build on that this season. She we will be a paint protector, for a very strong defense team in King Philip. She has good footwork, and good touch around the rim. Emily averaged a double double last season, and could put up even bigger numbers this season . Teams will most likely double her down low, and she is a good passer from the post, and a good decision maker. Her presence will be felt on both ends of the floor. She can also control the glass, and is strong rebounding on both offense and defense. She is committed to play division 1 volleyball at Sacred Heart, but has the skills to play at the division 1 basketball level if she chose to. Foxborough runs a high pressure defensive style, and Collins fits perfect with her active hands, and ability to jump the passing lanes. She is a strong and explosive 2 way player, who can score off the dribble and has a strong pull up jump shot. She has a good combination of skills and athleticism. Collins game will translate well at the next level. She has good length to match her skill set. She can play back to the basket or face up. She is also a threat from mid range. She gets good positions down low, and has good footwork. Last year she showed the ability to finish well on both sides of the floor. She is continuing to add more facets to her game. She can control the glass, and gets many second chance points. Davis will be a problem for teams to match up with this season. Kaydance Debra, Position G, Class 2024, High School Oliver Ames Debra is a consistent shot Maker for Oliver Ames. She has long range, and has a high release point. She can also attack the hard close out and get to the rim. She also showed the ability to be a facilitator, and showed her strong passing skills and court vision. She had over 95 assists last season. She handles the ball well when pressured, and is a good on ball defender as well. She is also a pesky defender and forced many steals last season. She has a versatile skill set, and plays with high energy. She will impact the game in multiple ways. She has range from the outside, and can also finish at the rim. Peterson had many games last season where she shot 50 percent from the field. She has good length for the guard position, and will be tough to stop this season.
