PLAYERS TO WATCH
Williams is a player that deserves a lot more recognition. What she does doesn’t always show up in that stat sheet, but it leads to wins. Williams is one of the toughest and most physical post players in the state. She’s very strong and plays much bigger than her height. Williams is an elite post defender. I’ve seen her go toe to toe with some of the best and not miss a beat.
Mitchell is one of the more exciting prospects to watch. She has a definite explosiveness to her game and her skill set. Mitchell is the type of player that can rattle off a 20 spot before you know what hit you. She scores in a variety of ways. She’s known for her step back jumper, which ,ight be the best in the state, but she can also attack the rim off the bounce, catch and shoot, and bury a floater from mid range.
Copple proved to be an elite prospect last season. I remember watching her in the 3 point contest at Coach Dell’s Let’s Get Ready showcase a couple falls ago. She had the entire gym watching that event. She really couldn’t miss. That elite shooting has continued to this day. If there was a statewide 3 point contest, she’d probably be the favorite. Copple led Brighton on an impressive post season run last year.
Highlights
McCree can get after it on the offensive end. She carries elite athleticism that helps her create looks at the rim. When she gets a look, watch out because she can heat up and start feeling her jumper in no time. Quite simply, she has that takeover mode that not too many players have. She’ll be fun to watch in the KLAA / SVL Challenge.
