The opening of the 2022-23 New Jersey high school girls basketball season has brought with it some Christmas/holiday tournaments right off the bat. Of those, the most notable has to be the She Got Game Classic being held down in Holmdel. Sunday wraps things up from St. John Vianney, but what great basketball we saw on Saturday. Here's a quick look at some standouts from the day's games.

[player_tooltip player_id='325192' first='Devyn' last='Quigley'] - Manchester Township (2024)

The only thing we can say about Quigley's performance on Saturday against Middletown North is just wow. Besting her already ridiculous statline from Thursday's season opener, a 35-point double-double, going a perfect 10-for-10 from the line, Quigley scored a career-high 41 points, along with 15 rebounds, three blocks and five steals. Oh yeah, she also went 10-for-10 from the foul line.

[player_tooltip player_id='325217' first='Julia' last='Karpell'] - St. John Vianney (2024)

The three-point shooting assassin strikes again for St. John Vianney and what a way to start the season out for the junior guard for the Lady Lancers. We know how good she is from beyond the arc, but Karpell hit four threes and went 4-for-4 from the line for a 16-point night in a 70-54 win for SJV over Maryland power Bishop McNamara. Karpell also added four assists and five rebounds along with those 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='414425' first='Juliana' last='O'Dowd'] - Montville (2025)

The sophomore transfer from Parsippany Hills had her first solid performance with Montville in a 57-33 win over Shore Regional on Saturday. O'Dowd knocked down two three-pointers en route to a 20-point night, hauling in eight rebounds as well as recording two blocks and two steals. Just an all-around great performance from O'Dowd for the Mustangs.

Katie Liggo - Red Bank Catholic (2026)

With such a big freshman class coming in and plenty of returners, the ball was going to be spread out a lot for Red Bank Catholic, but it seems the freshmen are adjusting well, including Liggio, who knocked down 3 three-pointers, leading the Caseys in scoring with 10 points in a 74-43 over Neumann Goretti (PA) on Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='482807' first='Riley' last='Allen'] - Chatham (2023)

Already one of the best three-point shooters in the state, Allen is currently averaging 5.5 made threes a game for Chatham, including knocking down six on Saturday, accounting for all her points in an 18-point performance. She's blowing past last season's three-point average and is on the road to 100, being more than 1/10th of the way there in two games.

[player_tooltip player_id='333333' first='Cassidy' last='Kruesi'] - St. Rose (2025)

Kruesi scored in double-figures just seven times as a freshman for St. Rose and already in her second game of her sophomore year, she's got her first, scoring 13 for the Purple Roses in a 50-36 win over Gill St. Bernard's. An impressive performance from someone who's bound to have a bigger impact on St. Rose as a sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='406936' first='Allison' last='Cannon'] - Holmdel (2024)

Cannon might have led the Hornets in scoring in Saturday's win over Hudson Catholic, but her most notable stats in the win were her five assists and seven steals. She's going to get Holmdel into fast-break situations and dish the ball often to teammates. We're excited to see where those two parts of her game will become as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='333302' first='Mia' last='Pauldo'] - Morris Catholic (2025)

What a performance and what win by Morris Catholic against a reigning state champion in Rutgers Prep on Saturday and what a showcase from Pauldo, racking up five rebounds and seven assists along with 16 points for the Crusaders. A well-balanced game from the guard is exactly what Morris Catholic needed in such a massive game as this one.

[player_tooltip player_id='325201' first='Mikayla' last='Blakes'] - Rutgers Prep (2024)

We couldn't conclude this without talking about the sophomore standout from Rutgers Prep, one of the top prospects in the 2024 class and and an absolute baller on the court. Blakes led the Argonauts with 31 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a close, 72-69 loss against Morris Catholic on Saturday. It was her second 30-point game of her career, one point off her career-high, but what a player and what a performance!
