Destiny Jackson from West Mesa, is an all-around wing player that Head Coach Manny Otero will depend upon going forward as the Mustangs lost a key piece earlier this season to a transfer. Jackson operates as a point forward — handling the rock, facilitating the offense and or setting screens when off ball — Destiny came into the 2022-23 season ranked inside the top 15, she is now at 13 after rising two spots. She can put the ball on the floor and does a good job slashing her way to the cup with a variety of moves in the lane.
Yvanna Villareal from Organ Mountain is a combo guard that has taken her game to a new level in 2022-23. Now as a more prominent scoring option, Villareal has posted double-figures in three of the teams first five games, scoring 19, 13, & 10 points respectively. Yvanna jumped up four spots, cracking the top 20! Going from 24 to 20 overall.
Adrianna Audi Torrez is a newcomer to the varsity scene for the Centennial Hawks that gives them a more flexible lineup thanks to her versatility on both ends of the floor. Torrez is a promising 6’0″ forward that can score inside out and can play multiple positions due to her athleticism and frame. Adrianna sky rocketed 15 spots, going from 36 to 21 in the rankings and has a chance to go even higher! Audi and the Lady Hawks are currently 3-2 but are confident they will still be in the middle of the playoff push come end of season.
Highlights
Elizabeth Buendia from Lovington is a combo guard that is helping lead the Wildcats to a good start by remaining undefeated and winning the Hub City Championship. A four team tournament that was held by the Belen Eagles in Belen, NM. Buendia is a scoring threat with a smooth mid range jumper and good court vision. Elizabeth moves well without the ball, and plays with active hands defensively. Earlier this month, Buendia scored a career high 23 points. She is now inside the top 25, moving from 32 to 23 in the rankings.
Kailyn Jefferson is a hard working forward from Clovis high school that does the dirty work for the Wildcats. Jefferson rebounds, plays good help side defense and runs the floor well. With her effort and energy alone, Kailyn gets easy put backs and transition opportunities which leads to the potential of being a double digit scorer nightly. Jefferson went from 64 to 39 in the rankings, a 25 spot jump!
