We spent our Saturday out in Fullerton, CA watching the Troy Warrior Classic basketball tournament they have every year at this school and it is always packed with some good talent that will most likely end up in the OPEN Division and sometimes they have the Champion of that division come out. Etiwanda is tough to crack when they are on the floor and they show and prove it each and every year to our writers.

We had Orange Lutheran defeat Esperanza with a score of 60-42, this game had some good ups and downs and the kids all played hard in the contest. Orange Lutheran proved to be just a little to strong for Esperanza with their excellent play on the floor. Great shooting and defensive schemes led to this victory and Orange Lutheran did in style with some key three point shooting and some easy baskets at the bucket.

Orange Lutheran Key Players:

Here are some of the key players that impressed us as we watched, 2024, 5'10, PF, [player_tooltip player_id='104790' first='Sheridan' last='Kennedy'] did a great job on the floor as usual, she attacked the rim and made shots from the perimeter to setup this victory for her team. 2024, 5'4, PG, [player_tooltip player_id='167342' first='Shea' last='Joko'] was exceptional with the ball control, she ran her team to perfection as I watched OLu run their read and attack offense, she made the right plays and lead her team like a lead guard should. Last but not least, 2024, 5'10, PF, [player_tooltip player_id='104792' first='Taliyah' last='McFerson'] was fierce on the boards and added some much needed scoring for her team, she did the little things that made her team go.

Esperanza Key Players:

Esperanza players that impressed us as well were 2023, 5'11, PF, [player_tooltip player_id='388391' first='Bella' last='Vosper'], big body player that knows how to play the game and get things done for her team, scores the ball, defends and will run through a wall for her teammates, love her tenacity. 2023, 5'10, SF, [player_tooltip player_id='388392' first='Emma' last='Wu'] did some good things for her team, but did not have her usual big night in the scoring category, but she was instrumental on the boards with 6 of them for this specific game. Last but not least for Esperanza, 2023. 5'8. CG, [player_tooltip player_id='104204' first='Kaiya' last='Mack'] had her usual night on the floor, scoring 10pts, 3rebs and 2stls on the night, she does it all for her team, she is one of the backbones on this team here, who can at the drop of the hat, hit multiples three pointers and get back into the game.

Championship Game:

We watched Etiwanda take on Ontario Christian in this crucial game that had both teams wondering who would come out on top, cause both of these teams are ranked in the state and they both end up in the semi or finals game each and every year. Etiwanda showed their strength in numbers, they like to play 10 girls or so and wear you down during the game with solid defensive skills and brutal offensive attacks. Ontario Christian is no slouch either, they have a few players on the team that can score the ball, defend, but what they do well is shoot the three pointer with consistency. Etiwanda would eventually win the game in this contest with a score of Etiwanda 74, Ontario Christian 51.

Etiwanda Key Players:

Etiwanda has their cast of players that always perform in 2024, 6'1, PF, [player_tooltip player_id='104797' first='Kennedy' last='Smith'], she is a brutal forward in the paint that just abuses her opponents with her nice skill set and size, she is developing that midrange and three pointer game as well very nicely this year, love to watch her play. 2024, 5'1. PG, [player_tooltip player_id='390502' first='Jada' last='Taylor'] is a firecracker on the floor, she showed us she could run the team and also shoot that ball, she knocked down a couple of jumpers with a nice stroke on her shot. 2023, 6'1, SF, [player_tooltip player_id='160304' first='Sa'lah' last='Hemingway'] is a beast in her own right, she soaks up rebounds at the rim and is a relentless scorer in the paint and midrange, we like her body type and she uses it well.

Ontario Christian Key Players:

Ontario Christian has 2023, 6'0, CG, [player_tooltip player_id='54096' first='Chloe' last='Briggs'], now she is a terror on the floor, multi-skilled guard that can score from all three levels on the floor. She is also the best player on the team and has been since she was a freshman, this kid is a stud and no one has been able to deal with her one on one. 2024, 5'5, SG, [player_tooltip player_id='104795' first='Dejah' last='Saldivar'] is a shooter and she does not care where she puts it up from, she will step one foot over the half court line and let it fly, this kid is athletic and uses her skills to get buckets for her team. 2024, 5'7, CG, [player_tooltip player_id='566437' first='Kailee' last='Briggs'] the little sister of Chloe showed us she can play this game to and knocked down some shots from the perimeter and got to the basket for easy scores. We enjoyed this tournament and will return next year.
