With over 100+ players ranked in the system, some names could get lost in the shuffle. With that being said, here is a few players flying under the radar for the class of 2023. Check them out!
Mari Manzanares is a high motor player that contributes on both ends of the floor. Manzanares is big and fast at her size; She can play multiple positions and is effective in doing so. Mari had a good summer of travel ball and that is translating over to the regular season for high school hoops. Manzanares is now a starter on a Volcano Vista Hawks Team, that is seeking a three-peat in 5A. — Through four games, she is currently the third leading scorer and one of the teams top rebounders.
Emily Beyale from Piedra Vista is a point guard that makes the game easier for her teammates by making quick, smart decisions. Beyale has a good handle and will draw multiple defenders if she gets into the lane — Also, not afraid to let it fly from behind the arc fyi.
Illiana Aragon is a hard working point guard that is a bright spot on a gelling Viking squad. Aragon is one of the leaders and most well-rounded players for Coach Jordan Martinez-Doublin. Illiana’s ability to compete and stay the course no matter how the game is turning out, is refreshing to see nowadays. Through five games in 22-23, Aragon is averaging nearly 8 points a contest — A team high.
Highlights
Shalanda Lefevre is a varsity newcomer for the Clovis Wildcats and is making an immediate impact. The 5’10” post player is essentially averaging 10 points and 10 rebounds per game, through three games. A small sample size but if that kind of production remains, Shalanda could make a massive jump in the rankings come seasons end.
Alizae Torres from Silver City is a three year varsity player who has continued to expand her game with the production to prove it. Each season her scoring has increased as well as her playing time. Now as a Senior, Torres is currently averaging a career high, 9 points per game.
