With a field sporting some talented teams and players, this is one of the top girls tournaments during the holiday season in Southern California. I was able to stop by on Monday, Dec. 26 for the first day of the tournament, and here’s a look at some additional standouts that I saw.
1 Mydrea Moore – Leuzinger 2023
Moore is a combo player who can play both in the paint and on the wing. She’s able to get good post position and she can take advantage of smaller defenders in the post. She can use her quickness too to handle the ball on the wing and make strong moves to the basket. Good midrange shooter. She controls the defensive glass. Defensively, she’s a shot blocker and does a good job protecting the paint. Good mobility.

– Pasadena Poly 2023
Lim stood out as a good wing scorer with good size who can handle the ball. She’s comfortable with the ball in her hands dictating the offense. She has an array of offensive moves; she can hit the pull-up jumper off the dribble, knock down the step-back, and hit the turnaround over smaller defenders. Does a good job fighting for rebounds as well.
3 Jennasis Burch – Heritage Christian 2023
Burch is a good wing scorer capable of playing shooting guard or small forward. She can run the break as the ball-handler and can go coast to coast and finish. Good use of step-through moves in the lane. Good handles and was able to consistently get to the basket. She can shoot the three ball off the catch and will take advantage of the defense going under the screen.
4 Emma Schaaf – Trinity Classical Academy 2024
Schaaf is still a little raw but has some talent in the paint. A little slight, but the footwork to be effective in the paint is there. Uses quick spins and can turn into a jump hook. Able to shoot from midrange. Defensively she can use her length to make things difficult for opposing post players and force a tough pass. Solid on the offensive glass using her size to grab boards. Definite upside.
