Continue ReadingTuesday, we released the Winter rankings update for the Class of 2024. There were more than 25 new additions, plus a few players who raised their “stock”, so to speak, so subsequently there was some movement throughout the list. I wanted to take this time to circle back and address all of the ranked prospects, position by position. Below is a look at 58 small forward prospects who make up 29.0% of the rankings this time around, with analysis on a handful to “keep an eye on” detailed at the bottom.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
Audrey has had a very nice year for the Lady Trojans. She is averaging 13.3 points per game through 14 games, shooting 35% from 3-point range, while making just over 2 1/2 3-pointers per game. She has a wiry-strong frame, she’s a nice athlete in most directions, and she’s equally good around the perimeter or battling in the mid-post. She’s willing to be physical, she will rebound, and she can defend multiple positions. She’s one of those kids who the best small colleges in the Midwest thrive on and win with in their respective national tournaments at the end of the year.
Highlights
Sophie is starting to find that consistency, game-in and game-out, and a lot of it has to do with her developing understanding of the game, and her finishing growing and starting to get stronger. She is a unique forward who can play inside or out. She has a solid handle and can attack defenders off the bounce, finishing at odd angles. She can make shots outside, too. But she also has the height and enough strength to post smaller defenders or attack the basket from the mid-post. She’s an active rebounder, plus she has a great deal of length and some bounce to her.
Highlights
Ava looks noticeably stronger and more confident this season, and she is producing because of it. She is a near double-digit scorer on a team with some dynamic guards, but she has found her niche with the group as their hustler and a player who gets “scraps” baskets off of others. She is always in the right place at the right time to grab a rebound and finish, plus she plays with an outstanding motor and toughness. Additionally, she does have skill of her own and can knock down an open jumper or attack the basket and finish. She’s also a versatile, effortful defender.
