Host 3A-7 Jessieville got past 3A-5 Central Arkansas Christian and 3A-5 Perryville defeated 3A-7 Bismarck in the nightcap. In the finals, Perryville clobbered Jessieville for the championship. Central Arkansas Christian topped Bismarck for third place. The following are my All-Tournament selections and their valuable contribution to their team’s success;
Cammi Christie Cammi Christie 5'6" | CG Perryville | 2024 State AR SG Perryville H.S. 2024-Cammi, pictured above, is the “glue” that keeps it all together. She’s smart, quick, and steady. I was impressed by her maturity. She doesn’t get too high or too low. Cammi has a nose for the ball creating turnovers and then turning them into points on the other end. Her game speed is “sneaky”. She is clearly the leader of her team. Because of her valuable skill set, Perryville should go deep into post-season play.
Riley Bryant Riley Bryant 5'11" | SG Central Arkansas Christian | 2023 State AR SG Central Arkansas Christian H.S. 2023-A recent signee at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, Riley can play any position on the court. She can score in the paint or from the three-line. She’s clearly the “floor general” on the team. Her size and strength give her an advantage anywhere on the floor. She doesn’t turn it over and makes very good decisions on both ends of the court.
Payton Futch Payton Futch 5'9" | PG Jessieville | 2026 State AR 5’9″ PG Jessieville H.S. 2026-Yes! Just a freshman, Payton has an unbelievable skill set for as young as she is. All aspects of her game are advanced. Offensively she can penetrate the defense, or shoot over the zone. She uses both hands proficiently and can recognize the double-team and dish off to a teammate. Payton can expand her game both offensively and defensively with a stronger upper body, but she clearly is one of the best players on the floor in every game. The future is bright for this young lady!
Kate Wood Kate Wood 5'9" | SF Bigelow | 2025 State AR SG Perryville H.S. 2025-Kate is a “natural”. She makes it look easy. Her strength is driving through the defense on transition and attacking the basket. Her passing skills are excellent and she can certainly play solid defense. Her footwork is textbook. She seems to play fearless. Kate is not only fast but also quick. She’ll play an important role in the Mustang’s deep playoff run.
Avery Efird 5’5″ SG Bismarck H.S. 2025-I was impressed with Avery’s maturity in understanding her role with the team. She’s a shooter. However, she is also the Lion’s most dependable ball handler. She’s smart and active without the ball positioning herself to get open for a catch-and-shoot opportunity. Give her a look and it’s usually at the bottom of the net. Avery could expand her game by getting stronger, but she is definitely an impact player, especially on offense.
Karstyn Scrivner 5’9″ SG Jessieville H.S. 2026-Another Jessieville Lions freshman. Karstyn likes to drive to the basket. She’s long and utilizes that length to get to the hole and finish. She can shoot the three but would rather drive and create contact and a foul. Her skill set is highly developed for a freshman. She has a bright future ahead of her.
Livian Burton 5’10” F Central Arkansas Christian 2023-Livian has excellent footwork in the lane. She works very hard for rebounds. Defensively she usually draws the toughest assignment each game. Her strengths include her length, speed, and quickness in getting out on the fast break for easy baskets.
Alyssa Rudolph 5’9″ SG Perryville H.S. 2024-Alyssa’s role for the Mustangs is simple. Whatever needs to be done, whether it be rebounding or scoring, or even setting screens she’s willing to do it. She is that added piece to the puzzle that makes her team difficult to defend. There’s just no weakness in Perryville’s lineup when she’s on the court. Alyssa is long and strong. She can get out on the break in transition and has no problem going to the floor for a loose ball.
In review, all of these student/athletes excelled during this three-day event. They all contributed to their team’s success, not only in their play but also in their sportsmanship. It was a pleasure to watch them.
