There was only one girls game at the event between King/Drew High School and Garfield High School. I was able to watch the game and here’s a look at some of the top performers I saw.
1. Anayla Anderson – King/Drew 2024
Anderson is a small, but explosive guard. She can handle the ball and play either guard positions. She does well off-ball looking for scoring opportunities while playing alongside another ball-handler. She an attack off the dribble and has a knack for getting into the paint. Her size isn’t an issue as she’s able to finish through traffic at the basket. She can drive baseline and hit defenders with a little floater. Good vision and playmaking and she finds her teammates in the halfcourt. Able to shoot from three point range.
2. Jada Barnes – Garfield 2025
Barnes is another small but explosive guard whose size doesn’t affect what she can do on the court. She’s quick with the ball in her hands and is always looking to push the tempo. She’s a blur in transition, beating the defense down the court and she can finish well on the break. A lot of her points came from her play in transition. She can attack downhill off screens and she’s able to play through contact and draw fouls. Able to hit the pull-up jumper on transition.
3. Andrea Hinton – King/Drew 2023
Hinton is a strong guard who can play in the post or on the perimeter. She’s a very good rebounder for a guard and she’s not afraid to mix it up and crash the boards against bigger players. She has a very good midrange jumper and can shoot facing up or off catch and shoot plays. Can shoot the midpost jumper taking advantage of smaller players. She handles the ball well and get into the lane where she draws fouls and gets herself to the free-throw line.
4. Jennette Delgado – Garfield 2023
Delgado was a center who has some skills/talent but is still a little bit raw. She can establish post position and does a good job calling for the ball while sealing but could refine her game a little to the point where she’s more decisive and under control once she catches the ball. She isn’t always so comfortable looking for her shot. She is a solid presence on the glass though. Good defensive rebounder boxing out and chasing down missed shots. Sets good screens. Makes some solid passes in the halfcourt.

– King/Drew 2025
What impressed me the most about Wallace was her ability to use jumpstops in transition. Many players don’t do that nowadays and she used them well to stop her momentum and make the defender fly past her giving her an easy bucket. She’s very quick with the ball in her hands and she consistently got the rim. Has a good floater in the lane. She is a point guard, running the offense in the halfcourt and she did well finding the open teammate around the basket.
