No. 6: Morgan Matthews Morgan Matthews 6'0" | SG Pennington | 2024 State NJ – 6-0 SG, Pennington
When watching the progression of a player, it’s often crazy to see that the best players can get that much better and Matthews is a prime example of that. Averaging 21.2 points a game this season for Pennington School, she’s shown a great deal of improvement as an interior scorer. We already knew her success as an outside shooter, but with a 6-0 frame, being able to be a versatile player in the paint and down on the post is integral for future success. She’s done that and then some, using her height to her advantage in a plethora of ways.
No. 7: Taylor Derkack Taylor Derkack 6'0" | SF Colonia | 2024 State NJ – 6-0 SF, Colonia
Trying to say any one of these top 10 prospects is better than the other becomes a game of mere percentage points, exactly the case with a player like Derkack, a 1,000 point scorer and one of the best forwards in the state. Her stat line this year is that much better than her sophomore numbers, 21.9/12.3/3.4 with two blocks a game, 4.7 steals a game and 1.4 made three-pointers a game. If you want a stretch four in your lineup, Derkack fits that mold to perfection and has really shown how much of an all-around game-changer she is.
No. 8: Te’Yala Delfosse Te’Yala Delfosse 6'2" | SF Ewing | 2024 State NJ – 5-10 SF, Ewing
Ewing has deserved the respect and consideration from Day 1 about the 2024 class they assembled and with two of those players in our top 10, the talent level shows. Delfosse made a name for herself last season and has continued a positive trajectory into her junior year. A jack of all trades on the court, she’s been an excellent scorer and can rebound the ball well as a guard. Her passing game, while underrated, is effective and can dazzle when she’s seeing opponents open up on offense. As a guard, Delfosse adds something to her game that others can’t as a fantastic shot-blocker and great interior defender.
No. 9: Alexis Rosenfeld Alexis Rosenfeld 6'2" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ – 6-2 C, Morris Catholic
Rosenfeld never quite had that breakthrough at Saddle River Day that people were looking for, despite being a monster in the AAU circuit. That tends to happen with 6-2 centers like her who command the post, make great plays in the interior and defend well. However, we’re finally seeing that summer success translate onto the high school court. This junior season for her hasn’t been easy either as the Crusaders have put together quite the daunting schedule from a national perspective. However, all she’s done has been averaging near double-double numbers with well over a block a game defensively.
No. 10: Julianna Almeida Julianna Almeida 5'9" | SG Saddle River Day | 2024 State NJ – 5-9 SG, Saddle River Day
Almeida’s growth from a statewide and nationwide perspective has been like a rocket taking off because that’s exactly what her game has done and become. She’s doing everything on the floor and isn’t using the three to get her there. Her game offensively is played inside the arc and she’s done it to perfection. The Navy commit has improved her facilitating skills while maintained more aggression on offense and her defense took some considerable strides forward thus far as a junior.
