Ava Brandenburg Ava Brandenburg 5'10" | CG Evansville | 2024 State WI
There aren’t many kids who do more for their team to succeed than Brandenburg. The junior is leading the Blue Devils in scoring, rebounding, and assists, which highlights her value to her team. She’s not someone who pops athletically, but at the end of the game, you look at the box score, and she had 18/6/3, which only tells part of the story. She’s a physical kid who isn’t afraid to dish out some punishment around the rim or step out and knock down jumpers from the perimeter.
Over the summer, Edmond established herself as an outstanding rebounder that could score here and there depending on the situation. Throughout this season, she’s improved in all aspects of the game. The Lancer is averaging a double-double and is adding more to her game. She didn’t shoot the ball much over the first two months from the perimeter. However, she has made three of the eight she’s attempted over the last three games, and if Edmond hits those and kids have to come out and guard her, she becomes that much more dynamic.
Jordan Fenske
Fenske was mainly a spot-up shooter a season ago at Waukesha West, but with some key graduations, she’s taken a more on-ball role offensively, and she’s taken it in stride. When Fenske comes off ball screens and shoots over a post that only shows on the screen, she’s making those every time. In a situation where she gets any amount of space, Fenske’s taken some contested shots that she can get whenever she wants because of her size, length, and high release. I’ve loved what she’s done this season.
At Menomonee Falls, Shea and Sophie Trimble have had to do a lot to make the team competitive, and they have been. However, if you look at the statistics, you may not be wowed. When watching Shea, she looked explosive, confident, and athletic. She’ll learn more as she goes through more high-level high school and AAU basketball, and her future is bright. Her motor will help her succeed wherever she goes. Regardless, the turnaround Shea and Trimble have led has been fun to track this season.
