Shalayne Morgan Shalayne Morgan 5'9" | CG North Shore | 2023 State TX shows she’s #THROWBACK game after game, no matter what the score is. They’re tied for first With Summer Creek, one of my favorites to win the region, in district play, and in their first district game, Morgan scored 33 of their 42 points in a loss so Tuesday’s upcoming game is vital. Her Mustangs team defeated a tough CE King Panthers squad and here are the Top Performers
North Shore
Shalayne Morgan Shalayne Morgan 5'9" | CG North Shore | 2023 State TX – 5’7 SG [2023]
Morgan, as I stated above, never takes a play off yet her energy is part of the driving force that will lead her team to the playoffs. She found ways to be relevant early, diving for loose balls, taking charges, and pressure defense, and then she turned it on offensively. I have stated numerous times she is one of the most explosive players In TEXAS off the dribble, she got to the rim multiple ways and dropped the jumper, long ball included
Simran Williams Simran Williams 5'7" | SG North Shore | 2024 State TX -5’7 CG [2024]
Williams got the team rolling early by scoring 6 in the opening quarter, she dropped a deep 3 to open it up and also a non-traditional three, an and-one after finishing strongly after the hit. She can get her shot off whenever she wants and being a standout in track shows because her first step can create plenty of issues. I was more impressed with her “on the ball” defense as it played a huge part in their win
Kobe Johnson-6’0 SG/SF [2026]
Johnson and her scary upside always grab my attention. She’s long and athletic, and that will ALWAYS be the base, yet watching her elevate for her jumper is also something I love to see. She played the passing lane, she rebounded on both ends and she played solid defense inside the paint yet her timing to block, alter, and (or) deflect shots were also nice
Branasia Brazleton-5’4 CG [2023] helped set the tone early with her “on the ball” defense while Dee Wilson-5’4 PG [2025] is emerging as one of the top young point guards in the area. Instant offense off the bench from Yaslyn Gonzales-5’3 CG [2025] was more than helpful
CE King
Brooklyn Alexander Brooklyn Alexander 6'1" | PF CE King | 2024 State TX -6’0 PF [2024]
Alexander seems to be showing me something different every time I catch her and her crossover in traffic to score off the dribble JUST DID IT for me. You can’t teach heart nor desire and watching her battle for everything off the rim, on both ends was definitely #THROWBACK speaking of THROW-BACK, she showed good timing to block shots
Kennedi Alexander Kennedi Alexander 6'0" | PF Channelview | 2024 State TX -6’0 SG [2024]
Alexander elevates on her jumper with ease but her ballhandling in the open court helps set everything up because she can drop the stop and pop as well as attack the basket from multiple angles yet she and her twin sister are both “long and athletic” it’s still the base. She too showed a nasty crossover, but her picture-perfect jumper is embedded in my memory
Ti’Ye Davis Ti’Ye Davis 5'3" | PG C.E. King | 2023 TX -5’4 CG [2023] did a good job controlling the tempo as well as on the defensive end while Momina Kassim-5’8 SG [2024] creates her shot under pressure and dropped a nice jumper in the 3rd that stopped a run
