The 2022-23 season is coming to a close this week – here are some of the top guard performers in the class of 2024 this season.
Beckham Hockley Beckham Hockley 5'7" | PG Sickles | 2024 State FL (Sickles / East Coast United) – 5’8 Guard
Hockley is always a consistent performer, playing tough and gritty every possession. Her solid all around offensive floor game is a cool, calming presence on the court. Hockley consistently plays under control with a great assist to turnover ratio. A capable scorer, Hockley is also an effective in the facilitator role as well. An average athlete, she changes speed and direction vs pressure well. Moving from Clearwater to Sickles, Hockley put up some big numbers on the offensive end proving she has a well rounded offensive game capable of scoring, distributing, and creating.
Jadah Toombs Jadah Toombs 5'7" | PG Fort Myers | 2024 State FL (Fort Myers / FGB) – 5’6 PG
Toombs is a quick, scrappy, crafty point guard that gets into the paint and is dangerous in transition. She has excellent open court moves and is extremely shifty in the open court. Her aggressive and competitive nature makes her a tough matchup and difficult to guard. She is constantly attacking the rim and trying to break down defenses and get into the paint. Toombs breaks the top 50 in the rankings, coming in at # 39 overall and the # 5 point guard.
Aubrey Horn Aubrey Horn 5'8" | CG Central Florida Christian Academy | 2024 State FL (Central Florida Christian Academy / J Sizzle) – 5’7 SG
Horn is a shooter!!! She can flat out knock it down from anywhere on the court. Her ability to space the floor and let it fly from several feet from beyond the arc, opened up the court for J Sizzle all summer. Horn had multiple games of 3 or more 3-pointers in a game while also being able to put the ball to the floor when they took away her shot. Horn comes in at # 58 overall and the # 16 shooting guard in the latest class of 2024 rankings!
Ciniya Moore Ciniya Moore 5'10" | CG IMG Academy | 2024 State FL (IMG Academy / FGB) – 5’10 Guard
Moore is a big guard / wing that is a high-volume shooter. She is most effective with the ball in in her hands and needs to get a lot of shots up and wants to play 1v1 to create scoring opportunities. Her 5’10 build is impressive looking and allows her to be effective against the competition.
Paige Atwater Paige Atwater 5'8" | SG Weeki Wachee | 2024 State FL (Weeki Wachee / FGC Miracle) – 5’8 SG
Atwater is always one of my favorite players to watch. She is a big, skilled, versatile guard who has good passing skills, a high IQ and a selfless attitude with good 3-point range. Her overall offensive floor game is extremely well rounded. Atwater does a good job playing within the team’s offense and facilitating offense.
Emily Lockey Emily Lockey 5'9" | CG St. Cloud | 2024 State FL (St. Cloud / Blue Star Orlando) – 5’9 SG
Lockey is a player that I am looking forward to seeing more of with St. Cloud this high school season and Blue Star Orlando in the spring/summer. She is one of the state’s top 3-point threats and does a great job knocking down open 3s at a high percentage.
Danigzy Mantilla Danigzy Mantilla 5'5" | PG St Cloud | 2024 State FL (St. Cloud / Blue Star Orlando) – 5’5 PG
Mantilla is one of the most under rated players in the class of 2024. I love her intensity and competitive nature on the court. Mantilla is the ultimate floor general who runs her team’s offense, distributes the ball to open players, pushes the tempo and gets into the paint. She shoots a high percentage from 3 and is an extension of the coach on the floor.
Kennedy McClain Kennedy McClain 5'11" | SF Sarasota | 2024 State FL (Cardinal Mooney / Always 100 Florida) – 6’0 SG
McClain is a big 6’0 perimeter player who played exceptionally well this summer for Always 100 Florida. Her big frame, combined with her versatile skill set, and ability to knock down open 3s make her a high level prospect and a tough matchup for opposing teams. McClain did a good job utilizing the shot fake and pulling up off 1-2 dribbles before getting into the next level of the defense. She also has step back and good mid-range jumper.
