Whether it’s in person or via the internet, the thing that still upsets me from when I started doing this, yes I AM THE FIRST PERSON TO COVER TEXAS, is the fact of not having a roster or not having a non-erroneous roster which to do this day irritates me because it’s something simple and it takes little effort
Jenna Warden Jenna Warden 5'10" | SG Silsbee | 2025 State TX -5’10 SG (Silsbee)
#24
Warden impressed me the first time I saw her playing with the high school team before she played her first middle school game and of course, I dropped the #D1Lock on her. She was playing in the paint yet over the years, her progression has enabled her to step outside the paint and create serious problems, both at the TJ Showcase with her club team as well as recently with her high school squad at the Lady Gander Tip-Off. Here’s a tip, her upside is scary
Laila Holmes Laila Holmes 5'7" | CG Mansfield Legacy | 2025 State TX -5’7 CG (Mansfield Legacy)
#29
Holmes didn’t need an assist from Watson to show me a variety of things she could do at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational during the Holiday Tournaments I covered. I love her ability to create her shot under pressure, as well as knock it down, under pressure and finding players that understand how important the midrange jumper is will always be a plus. She scored off the dribble, attacking strongly with either hand, and she also saw the floor
Aolani Woldai Aolani Woldai 5'7" | CG Brewer | 2025 State TX -5’7 CG (Brewer)
#33
Woldai caught my eye at Prime Time Nationals, multiple seasons, and one more time, #ThereIsNoMe because I am a REAL EVALUATOR, so no matter where you play, I know where the bar has been set. She left me speechless a few weeks ago via LIVESTREAM and to be honest with you, she’s one of the best defensive guards in Texas, all classes, that I have seen. The thing about her is that she actually enjoys applying heat, I love things you can’t teach, and when you factor in her explosiveness off the dribble as well as court vision, I expect her to make several jumps
LeAjah Maddox LeAjah Maddox 5'10" | SF Mansfield Legacy | 2025 State TX -5’10 SF (Mansfield Legacy)
#37
Maddox is “long and athletic” always remember that is a profile I love to evaluate but more importantly, so do college coaches, they offer scholarships and I mentioned that from her Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational performance. Her interior defense was nice, yet she also stepped outside the paint and applied “on-the-ball” pressure. She understands how to set the defender up to attack the basket, she also showed good body control on her finishes, which she also did after contact
Lily Melton Lily Melton 5'5" | CG Glen Rose | 2025 State TX -5’5 CG (Glen Rose)
#38
Melton is probably one of the top long-ball shooters in Texas, well not probably, she is and after dropping over 130 at the last count, there’s no telling where she’ll end up. I caught her several times before high school, and her basketball IQ immediately stood out, as well as her not only wanting the ball in the clutch but delivering yet she can do more than drop the 3 and score off the dribble, seeing the floor and hitting teammates on the money as well as defending are all pluses
