Continue ReadingI glanced at Glen Rose’s game and the score didn’t grab me so I flipped Grace Booth Grace Booth 5'10" | SG Glen Rose | 2024 State TX and Lily Melton Lily Melton 5'5" | CG Glen Rose | 2025 State TX are two of the top players in Texas and they face Canyon to represent Region 1. Can by the way is one of the most decorated schools in Texas, I have seen them defeat some of the top 5A and 6A programs in the past. Pinkston vs Sunnyvale winner will represent Region 2 and I know absolutely nothing about either yet I’ll catch the winner at the state tournament
Jamie Reude Jamie Reude 5'6" | PG Boerne | 2023 State TX leads Boerne and she shows that the game starts at the 1 over and over yet Fredricksburg will be up for the challenge, the winner will represent Region 4
LaVega vs Madisonville winner will represent Region 3, here are the STANDOUTS from their games
LA VEGA
Kiyleyah Parr Kiyleyah Parr 5'5" | CG La Vega | 2024 State TX will take you far as she’s one of the most exciting guards in Texas and her explosiveness off the dribble coupled with her HEZ as well as handling the ball makes her hard to handle as she got by defenders time and time again
Alaysia Gude Alaysia Gude 5'9" | CG LaVega | 2025 State TX did a good job defending, as well as playing the passing lane yet her court vision and ability to make tough passes played a huge part in their victory
Angela Carrol-6’2 P [2025] played one of her best games against a quality team that I’ve seen personally. Her rebounding, on both ends, played a huge part in their win yet her timing came in handy
Kenzi Mitchell-5’7 G [2023] came up huge, especially down the stretch when she attacked the basket strongly and scored and that helped stop a ferocious Hardin Jefferson comeback
Andrea Johnson-5’9 G [2023] defense was smothering and as I was doing my wraparound coverage, every time I popped over she was covering someone, on the ball, baseline to baseline, and her intensity helped create turnovers
HARDIN JEFFERSON
Molly Beavers Molly Beavers 6'0" | SF Hardin Jefferson | 2023 State TX and Kendall Sneed Kendall Sneed 5'7" | CG Hardin Jefferson | 2024 State TX have helped make this team one of the ones you have to go through to get to the state tournament, in fact, they have actually helped lead their squad there yet they came up a little short in a nailbiter 50-46
MADISONVILLE
Special S/O to Lady Thunder for putting these young ladies out there early
Kayla Dickey-5’4 PG [2023] controlled the tempo well, yet her first step to attack and finish or attack and dish helped get them off to an early lead. Dickey also plays more than solid defense
Makayla Ford-5’4 G [2023] showed the “stop and pop” jumper down the stretch which was big because Connally was not giving up. She also played solid defense, scored off the dribble, and had a key block
Kemyreul Wheaton Kemyreul Wheaton 5'9" | SF Madisonville | 2024 State TX -5’10 SG [2024] played her most complete game at this stage that I have seen her play and her going after rebounds, on both ends, yet handling the ball coast to coast effortlessly was big. She scored when needed, played tough defense and her energy stayed the same
WACO CONNALLY
Cyncere McDonald Cyncere McDonald 5'4" Connally | 2024 TX -5’5 G [2024] showed the pull-up jumper wasn’t to be played with and she dropped it consistently as well as scoring off the dribble yet her court vision was also nice
Alise Medlock-5’7 CG [2024] played the passing lane, which I absolutely love to see but she also scored off the dribble and did a good job on the defensive end
Tynia Minnitt-5’3 PG [2025] showed poise under pressure and her handling the ball in tight situations spoke volumes. She saw the floor, she scored attacking the basket as well as dropping the midrange jumper
