Cy Ranch was down 12 at some point, S/O to Texan Live announcers for that, as well as keeping up with how many points and three pointers players had and this game had a little bit as the Mustangs came from behind to advance to the Elite 8
At this stage, it’s usually how the ROLE players step up, and Daniella Vallecilla-6’4 C [2023] played probably the best all-around game I’ve seen her since joining Cy Ranch. She came out of nowhere to block a shot early, did a good job rebounding, and scored big buckets in the second half
Cy Ranch also got some firepower from Samantha Truitt-5’7 SG [2025] as she dropped three from deep in the first half and finished with at least 4 three pointers. Alexis Duhon Alexis Duhon 5'9" | SG Cy Ranch | 2024 State TX -5’7 CG [2024] came up big dropping the long ball as well as scoring an old fashioned 3, an and one, to tie the game at 43, yet her defensive intensity never stopped
Grand Oaks role players also stepped up, Asia Waddell Asia Waddell 5'11" | CG Grand Oaks | 2024 State TX -5’9 G [2024] is known for her tenacity on the defensive end, that’s always there yet she also created her shot and saw the floor, not to leave out hitting the boards on both ends. Sarah Scott-6’2 C [2023] did a good job inside the paint as she not only rebounded but scored some big baskets around the rim. as well as doing a more than solid job defensively
Here are the STANDOUTS
Cy Ranch
Chelsy Singleton Chelsy Singleton 5'7" | CG Cy Ranch | 2023 State TX -5’7 CG [2023]
Singleton is one of those players you don’t want to blink on because she can score in droves, multiple ways. Her outside shooting, that quick release is a problem, yet watching her set the defender up to attack the basket, with either hand and finish powerfully after contact, was in full effect
Ny’Kiyah Jeffries-5’9 SG [2023]
Jeffries looked like she did prior to her injury and she did a little bit of everything, including dropping one from deep, scoring off the dribble as well as around the basket. She rebounded, on both ends, and did a good job defending “on the ball”. Factor in “she played the passing lane” but watching her in her senior season after watching both her mom and aunt who were stars themselves, had me feeling some type of way, OLD
Jaeda Larry-5’6 SF [2023]
Larry was definitely the IT factor and one more time, I love things you can’t teach so let me drop #THROWBACK because she BATTLED for EVERYTHING, off the rim as well as loose balls. She also knocked down some big shots including pressure free throws to help seal the victory
Grand Oaks
Bree Riley Bree Riley 5'6" | PG Grand Oaks | 2025 State TX -5’7 PG [2025]
Riley scored on an array of shots yet that midrange in the set as well as the “stop and pop” in transition was hard to handle. I mentioned she had 20 at the half, she finished with probably 30 or more, I don’t keep stats but her FLOATA, coupled with her explosiveness off the dribble will be on full effect during the club season
Margan Allen Margan Allen 5'7" | SG Legacy SSS | 2025 State TX -5’6 SG [2025]
Allen combined with Riley to have also all of their team’s first half-points and I know she finished in double digits, finished is the “key” word. She has a first step that is truly hard to handle, but she completes it using some impressive body control, with either hand yet her pull-up jumper is a problem as well
