On Friday, February 17th I attended the Elite-8 OPEN Playoff game with the #7 Pinnacle Pioneers at the #2 Perry Pumas.

It was a very good 1st quarter with a 13-10 Pinnacle lead with a shot at the buzzer by [player_tooltip player_id='205642' first='Mia' last='Singstock'].

[player_tooltip player_id='138098' first='Khamil' last='Pierre'] was dominant in stretches during the 2nd quarter and captured the lead at 32-27 at halftime for the Pumas.

The third quarter was a full team effort for the Pumas including [player_tooltip player_id='589986' first='Isabella' last='Ivy'] with back to back threes. They led 50-37 heading into the fourth quarter. [player_tooltip player_id='205642' first='Mia' last='Singstock'] and [player_tooltip player_id='558895' first='Heather' last='Stedman'] has some good moments but too much [player_tooltip player_id='138098' first='Khamil' last='Pierre'] down the stretch and they won 75-65.

Here were some of the standouts from the Elite-8 playoff game:

[player_tooltip player_id='138098' first='Khamil' last='Pierre'] Perry

A strong forward with supreme length. She uses her build to score a lot of her points with offensive rebound put backs and once she gains position it's over. She made a few and-1's thru traffic posting up and can go coast to coast with a nice handle and can spin off of defenders plus hit from mid-range. She can defend inside and on the wing. She can rip some pockets plus literally rebound everything in her area. The Vanderbilt commit is a nice passer and scored 37 points and grabbed 11-15 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='589954' first='Sage' last='Henry'] Perry

A scoring point guard has a knack for getting buckets. Her first step is the real deal. She has quick feet and will blow by to score and likes using the runner, floater or will lay it in. She is also a good post entry passer and made a couple full court passes to running teammates. She is a good on-ball defender and has a bright future.

[player_tooltip player_id='589986' first='Isabella' last='Ivy'] Perry

A stronger two-way scoring point guard with toughness. She is an incredible on-ball defender. She is tenacious with her motor and lateral quickness to change a game quickly in the Pumas favor. She has blow-by speed with the ball and a super shifty handle. She can score thru contact and will rattle off triples when left open.

[player_tooltip player_id='550689' first='Lauren' last='Crocker'] Perry

A post player with size and skill. She is a real late bloomer who has been reportedly only playing for two years. She scores on right hand hook shots and will keep the ball high for scores. She has a drop stop but loves using the hook and can face-up to the three point line. She rebounds at a good clip and passes well out of the double team.

[player_tooltip player_id='261446' first='Jayla' last='Cal'] Perry

A diminutive point guard is quick and is very disruptive on defense. She has a quick crossover and will drive down the lane and can score a bucket in traffic. She can dime her teammates up the court and has real court vision.

[player_tooltip player_id='339074' first='Hannah' last='Strauss'] Perry

A good sized point guard has a polished runner in the lane and can get herself to the free throw line. She makes smart reads to her teammates and handles pressure well. She also has quicker hands to collect steals on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='600113' first='Halena' last='Hill'] Perry

A bigger wing can give a hard ball fake and blow-by her defenders plus hit the three. She is a plus rebounder and a good passer. She has good form on her jumpers and can score in transition. She creates a little and defends wings and guards plus will takes charges.

[player_tooltip player_id='205642' first='Mia' last='Singstock'] Pinnacle

A highly skilled wing forward. I haven't seen all the girls in the class but I am assuming she has one of the prettier strokes. She will catch and shoot from the three point line with a quicker release. She may end up a specialist in college. She gets her own offense off the dribble with changing speeds using her intelligence with the handle. She has the floater game and is a plus rebounder. She scored a team high 23 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='558895' first='Heather' last='Stedman'] Pinnacle

A fluid combo guard is a good athlete. She has a picture perfect stroke and can create her own shot. She can rise up off the dribble and hit from mid-range. She has the runner and is a very good passer kicking it to her shooters. She has good on-ball defense and handles contact fairly well. She scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='339090' first='Morgan' last='Escobedo'] Pinnacle

An undersized point with a very tight handle and a real burst. She will get inside and rebound despite her size. She can basically get by most girls and use the floater. The lefty splits defenders easily and has some toughness and nice court vision.

[player_tooltip player_id='600342' first='Shishawna' last='Begay'] Pinnacle

A decent sized scoring guard had a good game. She can burst to get to the cup and loves the mid-range jumper off the pull or catch. She hustles for loose balls to rebound on the offensive side and played with confidence. She scored 10 points off the bench and looks to have a bigger role next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='365918' first='Mackenzie' last='Murphy'] Pinnacle

A lean combo guard with skill. She has a sneaky quick burst and will score on layups and catch threes. She has quick hands to collect steals.

Jada Whitlock W 5'7 2023 Pinnacle

A high energy wing can crash the glass. She will get her own rebounds and is quick to track the ball. She can score it from mid-range and get to the rim.
