In the three games, Bishop LeBlond defeated Platte Valley, Maryville defeated Mid Buchanan and host Benton defeated Blue Springs South.
Kelsey Johnson (Benton): The 5’11” wing scored 11 points and played an excellent all-around game in the Lady Cardinals victory over Blue Springs South. Her versatility spans from handling the ball in a playmaker role to guarding the low post on defense. She can take advantage of mismatches by posting up smaller guards in the low post. She’s a good slasher who can also make the perimeter jumper. She also uses her length well at the top of the full court press.
Shae Lewis (LeBlond): The 2023 guard scored a team-high 15 points in the victory over Platte Valley. She moves well without the ball to get open and she can score on the drive. If the defender has a hand down when she catches the ball, she can raise up and hit the 3-pointer. She is also very savvy on the defensive end. She can bait players into making a pass to an open spot, only she will dart into that spot and make the steal.
Tatum Studer Tatum Studer 5'7" | CG Bishop LeBond | 2023 State MO (LeBlond): The 5’7″ guard scored 11 points in the victory over Platte Valley. She has a quick first step to beat a defender and get to the basket. Her ball fakes are also very effective in freeing her for her own drives. She has a very nice pull up jumper from the mid range.
Rylee Vierthaler (Maryville): The 5’11” wing scored a team-high 14 points in the Spoofhounds’ victory over Mid Buchanan. She shot the ball well from 3-point range and played a very good all-around floor game. She was active on the defensive end with steals and deflections and she also rebounded well.
Katie Beam (LeBlond): The 5’3″ shooting guard understood her assignment, which was the knock down shots from 3-point range. She hit three triples in the first half against Platte Valley and all of them were from the same spot from the left wing.
Anastyn Pettlon (Maryville): The 5’4″ guard scored eight points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the victory over Mid-Buchanan. If she gets a good look from long distance, she will let it fly. She hit one shot that was a good five to six feet past the 3-point line.
Peyton Anderson (Benton): The Northwest Missouri State soccer commit is an excellent athlete who fills in many roles. She is a secondary ball handler who can also deliver the pass to her teammates on target. She can grab the rebound and take the ball coast to coast on the dribble with her speed.
