Here are the STANDOUTS from last night’s game
Fort Bend Austin
Andrea Sturdivant Andrea Sturdivant 5'6" | SG Fort Bend Austin | 2025 State TX – 5’7 PG (2025)
Sturdivant got everything rolling by starting the game off with a 4-point play, can’t say I’ve seen that too many times yet her zig-zagging by defenders and throwing no-looks on the money is nothing new to me. She always brings plenty of heat defensively but she has an impressive first step as well as the jumper, mid to long-range, which makes her an offensive threat
Aminah Dixon Aminah Dixon 5'6" | SG Fort Bend Stephen F. Austin | 2025 State TX -5’6 CG (2025)
Dixon is one of those players that fill up the stat sheet yet with her clutch performances at various times, she dropped a 3 to stop a 9-0 run to open the 3rd quarter as well as another 3 in the 4th to put the game out of reach but I was equally impressed with her attacking the basket using very nice body control and finishing after the lick
Kelechi Dike Kelechi Dike 5'11" | SF Fort Bend Austin | 2023 State TX -5’11 SF (2023)
Dike is long and athletic and her acrobatic moves around the rim, not to leave out her rebounding on both ends and attacking the basket from the wing all played a part in their victory. She also did a good job defending, both in and outside the paint, and she altered some shots, remember long and athletic is the base
India Jackson India Jackson 5'10" | PF Fort Bend Austin | 2023 State TX -5’10 PF (2023)
Jackson sold me during the club season and I said “you won’t outwork her” I smiled when I heard the announcers say the same thing, which is why I didn’t hit mute. She goes after EVERYTHING, not only off the rim, bit loose balls on the floor, and her powerful moves in the paint, as well as finishing with either hand was smooth
Mannal Yusuf- 5’8 G (2023)
Yusuf also came up big at the right time, she hit a late 3 to change the momentum, but she also scored off the dribble. Her defense was solid and she saw the floor
Ridgepoint
Sydney Thomas Sydney Thomas 5'9" | SG Ridgepoint | 2026 State TX -CG (2026)
Thomas’ upside is scary and that’s an understatement because she’s poised under pressure and did a good job applying heat on the flip. She understands how to create her shot and get it off with a hand in her face, she has good range from deep and she also has a deceptive first step which enables her to get to the rim
Inonda Peterson-PG (2023)
Peterson created her shot under pressure and she scored off the dribble. She played the passing lane but also did a good job defending “on the ball”
Edyn Breaux-CG (2024)
Breaux had me thinking “what’s up Breaux” because watching her ELEVATE and rebound, on both ends, but she also showed some impressive timing to block shots. She actually came out of nowhere for one of her blocks but she also showed she could score around the rim, and play the passing the lane
