Sakoya Sweeney Sakoya Sweeney 5'6" | CG Lake Region | 2023 State NewE , 5’7 PG – Lake Region Union High School Class of 2023
Sakoya came out determined! The savvy PG up north went for 24 vs Milton in the opening round and 25 vs Harwood in a close loss. Sweeney’s on-court leadership, communication, and constant encouragement are the icing on the cake as she’s one of the smartest, hardest working PG’s around. Plus, she gets buckets at all three-levels. Sweeney is a true floor general and a gamer.
Sydney Perry Sydney Perry 6'0" | PF Windsor | 2024 State NewE , 6’1 F – Windsor High School Class of 2024
Windsor got a first-round bye, sitting at #1 in the D3 standings. That game off didn’t slow down Sydney though. Perry erupted for 15pts, 18rbds, and 5 stls vs VUHS. Sydney’s ownership of the interior has been a theme all season. She’s a two-way terror on the boards, and a strong finisher at the rim. Plus, her mere presence strikes fear in slashers. Perry has been D3’s most dominant player all year.
Breya Montague Breya Montague 5'9" | SG Essex | 2024 State NewE , 5’9 G – Essex High School Class of 2024
Breya’s early playoff performances have made it clear she’s hungry as anyone. Montague put up 18 vs MAU and then 21 vs BBA, a team that snatched a win vs Essex earlier in the year. Breya’s ability to fill it up inside and out had BBA on the ropes for the latter 3 quarters, unable to contain the shifty PG. Montague and EHS head to the semis under Breya’s leadership.
Caitlyn Davison Caitlyn Davison 5'9" | CG Hazen | 2024 State NewE , 5’8 G – Hazen High School Class of 2024
Hazen is a basketball town and Caitlyn is this team’s top talent. She’s an absolute bucket, and she fills it up in more ways than one. She’s efficient in the open-court, able to finish through traffic or make plays for others. She put up 20 in first round, then caught a 34-piece with 14-19 FT’s in the second round. Davison seeks efficiency and she’s been hyper-efficient thus far.
Yvonne Roberge Yvonne Roberge 5'6" Spaulding | 2023 NewE , 5’8 G – Spaulding High School Class of 2023
There aren’t many players who put up stat lines like Yvonne’s the past couple games. Roberge went for 9 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists, and 9 steals vs Middlebury in the opening round, then dropped 16 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals vs the defending champs, Mount Abe. Yvonne is simply a competitor, willing to take on whatever is asked of her. Roberge is clicking as Spaulding heads into the Final Four.
Addison Hunter Addison Hunter 6'0" | PF Champlain Valley | 2023 State NewE , 6’0 F – Champlain Valley Union High School Class of 2023
The state’s best forward was at it again! Addi put up 14 vs Rice, last year’s D1 champs. Hunter did it with smarts and fundamentals, per usual. She ate well around the rim and the short to mid-range, putting post moves, counters, and her jumper on display. Plus, she, Samara Ashooh Samara Ashooh 6'0" | PF Champlain Valley Union | 2024 State NewE , and Lauren Vaughan Lauren Vaughan 6'1" | PF Champlain Valley | 2025 State NewE locked the paint down on the other end, forcing Rice to settle for outside looks. Hunter and crew head to the semis as the #1 seed and the favorites.
Elyse Macdonough, 5’8 G – Rice Memorial High School Class of 2024
Last year’s POY put up some strong games in the first couple rounds, quite naturally. She gave Colchester cool 13, knocking down numerous 3’s as she orchestrated the offense. She answered that with 16 vs CVU, but it wasn’t quite enough to get over the hump against a deep and well-coached CVU squad. Nonetheless, she showed why she’s received such honors. She’s a scrapper, a three-level scorer, and a classy leader.
Cora Nadeau Cora Nadeau 5'9" | SG North Country | 2023 State NewE , 5’11 G/W – North Country Union High School Class of 2023
D2’s top team hasn’t slowed up and Cora is key to their high-octane offense. Nadeau delivered a sweet 16 points in limited minutes vs U-32, which she followed up with 14 vs Lyndon Institute, again on somewhat limited minutes. Her three-level scoring is undeniable. And when you add in her vision, playmaking, defense and rebounding, she’s an utter problem. Cora and NCU head into the semis undefeated and heavily favored.
Brianna Brownell Brianna Brownell 5'9" | SF Mount Mansfield | 2024 State NewE , 5’9 W/F – Mount Mansfield Union High School Class of 2024
When Brianna’s on the floor, you know it’s 100% hustle, smarts, and team basketball. The versatile W/F put up 11 pts and 9 rbds vs South Burlington. Then it was an 18-piece vs a well-balanced St. Johnsbury team. Brownell’s constant work on the glass is a key feature of her game, and her fundamental finishing within 15-feet is a joy to watch. Plus, she runs the floor incredibly hard both ways. Brownell and MMU put in great efforts after losing their All-State leader in Cherise Shamp.
Eloise Liley Eloise Liley 5'9" | CG Harwood | 2025 State NewE , 5’9 G/W – Harwood Union High School Class of 2025
The sophomore has made a splash lately! Eloise put up a strong 25 vs Springfield and then followed it up with an efficient 20 vs Lake Region. Liley is most well-known for her scrappy and physical defensive play inside and out, yet she’s really come into her own offensively. Eloise has her mid-range jumper clicking and her finishing around the rim is always on point. Additionally, she’s facilitating the offense, leading Harwood into a Final Four appearance. Liley came to play!
