Aniyah Scales was very helpful for the strong season Charlotte Catholic had. Everyone knows about the front court for the Cougars, but Scales brought high intensity guard play to the group knocking down shots from deep and driving hard to the hoop. She finishes on both sides of the rim, and she is a nuisance on defense being able to grab a steal and explode to the other end of the court. She does a little bit of everything for her team, too, even getting inside for rebounds when she needs to.
Katie Alexander is one of those players that every team needs on the court. She is very vocal and one of the most encouraging teammates in the state. In addition to those intangibles, she finds ways to contribute on all areas of the court from grabbing rebounds to making full court passes on fast breaks to releasing on a fast break herself for some points. She can easily knock down shots from all areas of the court, and her aggressive drives to the hoop don’t slow down for any kind of contact that may be waiting for her. These reasons led to accolades for her like All-Conference and All-State.
Aliyah Corpening is another guard from Asheville Christian who has some nice swag every time she steps on the court. She’s aggressive handling the ball, and she has a nice side step to create some space and knock down her shot. She is an asset running offensive sets knowing the importance of timing and has patience as plays develop. Her full court presence is definitely felt as she is a tough defender keeping her opponent in front of her, and it seems like she knows what her opponent will do even before they decide it. There’s a reason she made All-Conference.
Hannah Sorrentino has been on the rise this year with her handles as she can drive around anyone or create her own space. This space led to her knocking down the most three pointers in her conference. She protects the ball averaging 12 points per game along with 3 steals and 4 assists. Her lateral quickness is fun to watch as she strips the ball from her opponents and blows by them for some fast break points.
Alivia Evans has a way of taking advantage of defenders when they are even only a half step off of her. She explodes up the court getting open for fast breaks, or she handles the ball herself pushing it up the court. She’s a three level scorer knocking down her shots from deep, and she attacks the basket scoring on both sides using reverse layups when needed as she can certainly make some nice adjustments on the way up. She hustles on both ends of the court being sure to block shots and deflect passes on the other end.
