Icyss Storm had a dominant season for Grace Christian. She has been a proficient offensive player on the block with her post moves. She can seal off her opponents, use power dribbles and up and under moves, and score some points off the entry pass. This season, she has been expanding the floor knocking down midrange jumpers and running things from the high post whether she attacks the basket or finds her open teammates underneath the basket. She was the leading scorer for her team in the state championship game, and she is sure to add many rebounds each game on both ends of the court.
Highlights
Jerin Truesdale was a phenomenal player this year for Myers Park. She has a way of taking over games and doing whatever is needed to help her team succeed. She can handle the ball pushing it up the court, or she can get inside to post up on the block. She is tough getting rebounds on both ends of the court, and she’s aggressive driving the ball to the hoop. She reads her opponents well knowing how to jump into passing lanes to grab steals. She can knock down shots from deep, too.
Chloe Moss is another player who has been dominant on the block. She seals off her opponents making her hands an easy target for the entry pass to score some points. This past season, though, she’s been getting quicker running the floor and making her moves on the block. She has long range shooting the ball being able to step outside the perimeter to knock down her shot. She is a tough rebounder, too, doing whatever it takes to get the board.
Gracynn Gough is a major reason why I think Charlotte Catholic has the best front court in the state. She outworks everyone who has to guard her on the block making sure to seal them off to be the only one to catch the pass. She has been absolutely on a tear knocking down her three point shot, too, taking advantage of players who give her too much space around the perimeter. She is also an excellent hype woman celebrating her teammates and her own victories that help the team win all of their games.
