is coming off a state championship run, and she’s fitting right in with her new team’s high tempo offense. She runs the floor well and is constantly moving and flashing in and out of the paint to get the open look keeping her arms stretched out ready for the pass. She can turn and shoot her jump shot from all over the paint, and she attacks the basket well scoring off the glass with ease.

Sometimes, the phrase “special player” gets thrown around a bit too loosely nowadays. Storm is a special player regardless of era. Furman, Elon, North Carolina-Greensboro, Charleston Southern, Winthrop and Tennessee State all believe so as those programs extended offers her way. After a stellar career at the juggernaut that was Grace Christian, Storm will close out her high school career at NC GBB Academy. She is coming off her final season on the AAU level which was with Carolina All-Stars and she is more than poised to close out her career on the preps level with an emphatic exclamation point.

Probably the best rebounder that I saw today, had multiple 3+ rebound possessions and really takes pride in her role on the glass. Good athlete with fundamentals in the paint, finishes well in traffic and utilizes her pivot foot to create space. She makes good decisions with the basketball and knows when to kick it out before re-posting for a look vs going up right away for the putback.

Icyss storm got right into her element scoring with post moves, and she set herself up for the three ball showing off her range shooting. She did a nice job protecting the basket on the other end blocking shots and using her length to keep hands in her opponents’ faces. She hustled up and down the floor being ready for the ball in transition, and she was diving on the floor going after loose balls. She created plays for her teammates, too, driving to the rim and making the dish to her teammates.

Icyss Storm was strong on the block scoring through contact and finishing from the free throw line. It seemed like three point plays were on repeat for her throughout the game. She knows how to create her own openings flashing in and out of the paint shifting the defense and going to work off the pass. She was tough on the boards grabbing rebounds on both ends.
