MANCHESTER VS. PLYMOUTH CHRISTIAN
District 84 – 5:30PM, @Clinton
Plymouth Canton is the favorite, but I know that Manchester has the ability to hit another. Whoever gets better guard play probably wins.
Players To Watch:
Cassidy Reames
Cassidy Reames
If you’ve never seen Reames play before, trust me when I say that she’s a nice player. Her play could go a long way in this game. If she can play solid defense and be efficient with the ball Manchester has a shot.
Houk has always carried the reputation as a shooter, but she can create off the bounce as well and has improved her transition game. If she gets in a groove offensively, Plymouth Christian will be playing in the championship.
COLUMBIA CENTRAL VS. READING
District 82 – 7PM, @ Reading
Columbia Central has had a nice season. They are well coached, talented and primed for a post season run. Don’t blink though because Reading and their 16-6 record are nobody to look past.
Players To Watch:
Bamm is just such a tough matchup in any division in any round. Welcome to districts, now slow down one of the best rebounders in the midwest. The task is as tough as it sounds. If Bamm controls the paint, Columbia Central controls the game.
Highlights
Jenna Londeau
Jenna Londeau
While admittedly not being a Reading basketball expert, I’ve done some homework. When Londeau plays well, they useually win. Point guard play and controlling the pace will be critical in negating some of CC’s talent, making her play even more important.
LAWTON VS. SCHOOLCRAFT
District 79 – 7PM, @ Lawton
Nothing like some really high quality perimeter play early in the state playoffs. There’s some real star power in this matchup and some players that can lead their teams a lot farther than the “experts” may think. This could be a really entertaining game.
Macon is one of the better lead guards in the state. She has an incredible basketball IQ and can score and distribute as needed. She’s been surprising opponents and fans with big wins in high school and grassroots play for years now. That can certainly continue tonight.
Highlights
Ellison is a very talented 2 guard. She has a nice jumper with 3 point range. Ellison has a knack for finding her balance and getting her shot off clean in traffic. If she grooves her jumper, Schoolcraft could play for the championship later this week.
NAPOLEON VS. EAST JACKSON
District 85 – 5:30PM, @ Grass Lake
This could be a great basketball game with some up and coming players. The teams have met multiple times, but I get the feeling that this will be the best of the bunch.
Maggie Beer
Maggie Beer
Beer is a name to get to know. She’s a talented all around athlete and may face the task of slowing down a red hot opponent for East Jackson. Her defense may be a determining factor in this game.
Kerley has a breakout season of sorts. If you watched the PGH Circuit last year, you kind of saw it coming most likely. She’s developed a well rounded game that lets her attack from outside-in or inside-out.
