With the high school season over and the travel season kicking off, we hit the film room to check out some players highlight videos from the 2022-23 high school season.
Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St Thomas Aquinas) 5’8 Guard – Class of 2023
Green, an unsigned Senior guard just wrapped her high school career, winning her second consecutive state championship in a row! A high academic student, she holds a 3.6 GPA and is interested in playing collegiate basketball and academically is intersted in Engineering and Psychology. She open to attending a college or university that is on the east coast and has a student body larger than 3,000 students. A dual threat on and off the court, Green has consistently been recognized as one of the top combo guards in the class of 2023 and an elite athlete. She was a steady presence for the Raiders throughout her high school career on both ends of the floor, increasing her role yearly. She is an active player, who is an excellent perimeter offensive rebounder who can take you off the bounce and knock down the outside shot!
Mikayla Paschal Mikayla Paschal 5'11" | PF Largo | 2025 State FL (Largo High School) 5’10 Forward – Class of 2025
Paschal, a steadily progressing 5’10 forward finished her sophomore season averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds per game finishing in the top 10 in 6A in scoring, rebounding, and double doubles. She is an active player who pursues and chases rebounds down. She has improved her ability to put the ball to the floor, attacking the rim both from the high post and off the dribble from the top of the key and the wing. She can advance a defensive rebound and start the break and is an active defender who blocks shots and gets her hand on alot of balls. Capable of playing both inside and out, Paschal often out runs and out hustles her competition. Will will play up with Tampa Thunder Team Dupree 17U this travel Season.
London Jenkins London Jenkins 5'4" | PG Fleming Island | 2024 State FL (Fleming Island High School) 5’4 Point Guard – Class of 2024
Jenkins, a 5’4 point guard holds a 3.5 GPA out of Fleming Island High School in Jacksonville, FL. She is quick and craft with the ball in her hands, attacking off the dribble and playing down hill consistently getting into the paint and scoring at the rim. She has an explosive first step and has 3 point range. When defenders close her out to aggressively, she plays off the shot fake and utilizes her ability to finish in the paint or pull up from mid range. She utilizes her quickness and athleticism well, blowing by defenders off her first dribble and driving opposing offensive players nuts with her aggressive and active on ball defense.
Riley Talbert Riley Talbert 5'9" | SG Bishop Kenny HS | 2024 State FL (Bishop Kenny) 5’9 Guard – Class of 2024
Talbert wrapped up a stellar Junior campaign with a tough loss in the state championship game in only their second loss of the season. She finished the season as the teams 3rd leading scorer (10.4 points per game) while shooting an impressive 50% from the field and also finishing 3rd on the team in assists (2.3) and steals (1.4). She is an extremely efficient offensive player who can not be left open on the wing or in the corner as she will knock down the open 3 at a high percentage. Not just a catch and shoot shooter, Talbert can put it to the floor and pull up mid range off 1-2 dribbles as well as create shots for her teammates on penetrate and kick opportunities. Within her teams offense, she does a great job spreading the floor, moving without the ball, cutting to the rim for easy layups, as well as leading her teammates to the rim with excellent court vision and good passing skills!
Malayna Stevenson Malayna Stevenson 5'11" | SF Gateway | 2024 State FL (Gateway High School) 5’10 Shooting Guard – Class of 2024
A big guard who can play multiple positions, Stevenson can attack off the dribble and let it fly from deep beyond the 3 point line. As a guard, she is an active rebounder and does a good job grabbing defensive rebounds and advancing the ball to start the fast berak. She runs the floor hard in transition with out the ball and pushes it aggressively with the ball. A versatile player who they move around on Gateway High School, she can play inside and out. Often putting her at the forward spot, Stevenson is good in the middle of the floor, finding open space vs zone and flashing to the open areas either to knock down the high post jump shot or to attack of the dribble and get into the paint.
Paige Atwater Paige Atwater 5'8" | SG Weeki Wachee | 2024 State FL (Weeki Wachee High School) 5’8 Guard – Class of 2024
Atwater is a big scoring guard who led Weeki Wachee in scoring this year at 15.4 points per game. Mainly playing the point guard position in high school, defenders need to meet Atwater shortly after she crosses half court with the ball as she is not afraid to stop and pop and let it fly from the top of the key for a 3-pointer. She is big and long and an active defender who gets her hands on alot of balls. She is a selfless player who sees the floor well and gives the ball up to the open player in transition, often leading them to the rim for an open jumper.
