Blocton (cover picture) is one of the most dominant players on the First Coast and in the State of Florida. She has a skillset that based on power and speed and there are not many players in the State who can match up with her. She is relentless on the board on the offensive side and defensive side of the ball. As a Freshman, Blocton was nationally ranked in the rebound department. Blocton was dominant in the Jax Magic tournament and secured every rebound in site On the offensive end, she was equally as dominant. She scored at will in the paint and got to the line all day long. Blocton outclassed and outworked all defenders in the paint. Blocton is that special player who has the ability to put her team on her back and her opponent on the bench in foul trouble. At Jax Magic, Blocton showcased her ability to lead the break and fill the lanes. She is a guard’s best friend in press break with her abilities to handle the ball and catch any pass within reach. Blocton is a top 20 player in that 2024 class and that number should go higher after this summer.
Piera Alexander Piera Alexander 5'6" | PG Orange Park | 2024 State FL / 5’6 PG / Orange Park / MHD Elite
Alexander was a standout on the court and more than anything her leadership stood out. Alexander played well, scoring from all three levels of the court. Alexander can knock down the three point shot and also rip to the midrange. She also has a very nice float game on the baseline and in the paint. At Jax Magic the Junior guard showed versatility, moving back and forth between the point and the shooting guard. On defense, Alexander applies great on-ball pressure and also plays very good help side defense. Alexander had an impressive outing at the Jax Magic tournament and she will be a player to watch this AAU season.
Kiyana Hunter Kiyana Hunter 5'3" | PG Mandarin | 2024 State FL / 5’3 SG, PG / Mandarin / MHD Elite
Hunter showed versatility playing the point and the shooting guard positions. She has a good shooting touch and can score from all scoring levels on the court. Hunter also has very good court vision. She does a very good job of advancing the ball with the pass and is very good at manipulating the defense with ball movement. Hunter’s main skill set is on the defensive end where she plays lock down agressive defense. She has great anticipation and a lot of steals come on straight out taking the ball from an opponent and she is very good at deflecting the ball in the passing lanes. At Jax Magic she was matched up against a few top level guards and her defense stood out.
Jamesia Smith Jamesia Smith 5'8" | CG Lincoln | 2024 State FL / 5’6 PG / Lincoln / Fast Elite
Smith was a standout at the Jax Magic Tournament. She was one of the most physical and athletic players at the event. She played with a lot of tenacity and intensity. She can shoot the midrange and three, but loves to take the ball to the goal. Defensively she played very good help-side defense and also played the passing lanes very well. Smith also did a good job of controlling the action from the point guard position. When she is on the court, there is no doubt who is running the show. She does a good job of creating space and directing her teammates to the right positions on the floor.
Asya Jones / 5’6 SG / Bishop Snyder / Lady OTOD
Jones was a standout on the offensive putbacks and on defense. Jones plays good on-ball defense and is also very good on help side. She reads the court well and rebounds well from the guard position. She is very crafty at getting putbacks down low. She has a great understanding of being in the right position to score. Jones is very good in transition and has great timing on cutting to the basket and getting open. Jones has good size and can guard positions one, two and three. She played well at Jax Magic and will be a player to watch throughout this AAU season.
Autumn Nesmith Autumn Nesmith 5'6" | SG Orange Park | 2024 State FL / 5’7 SG / Orange Park / MHD Elite
Nesmith had a nice tournament and showed that she can get to the basket as well as knock it down from beyond the arc. Nesmith has great length and can slide to the Small Forward position depending on the personnel on the court. She rebounded well and played very well in transition. Nesmith has a nose for the basket and does a good job of putting herself in position to score.
London Jenkins London Jenkins 5'4" | PG Fleming Island | 2024 State FL / 5’4 PG / Fleming Island / Lady OTOD
Jenkins only played in the final game of the tournament, but her talent is undeniable. She is one of the top scoring point guards on the First Coast and can put the ball in the basket in a lot of ways. In the championship game, Jenkins was effective in the open court. With her speed, she turned loose balls and steals into layups. Defensively, she was very good on the ball and her speed in space created a few turnovers.
