Continue ReadingI have been saying “talent is everywhere” for quite some time, yet I also had to add, “if you KNOW what you’re looking at” and so many of my sayings have been copied, misquoted, as well as given different definitions when you’re a REAL EVALUATOR, certain things just pop out. I always enjoy catching players I haven’t seen or seen enough of that show next-level potential so I got just what I wanted
Bre’Azyaa Jones (Houston Lady Nets) 2026
Jones is “long and athletic” with some very nice upside and when you factor in her frame, she attacks from the wing and finishes after contact, those are all pluses. She also showed the pull-up jumper as well as defended strongly. She hit the boards, on both ends, and played the passing lane
Kameah Matthews (Houston Queens 15U) 2026
Matthews is also “long and athletic” but I failed to mention “that will always be the base” for me when evaluating, well one of them. She created her shot and elevated on her jumper but she also has a nice first step to attack the basket. She played “on the ball defense” showed good timing to block shots and rebounded on both ends
Johnae Biggs (Houston Dream) 2024
Biggs is, you guessed it, “long and athletic” and her upside is scary because of the things she does instinctively. Her timing was among the best at the event to block, alter and (or) deflect shots, she played the passing lane and handled the ball afterward, she defended in and outside the paint and she also did a good job attacking the basket and finishing
Khylee Perry (Houston Dream) 2025
Perry is an athletic guard that plays taller than her height. She outrebounded and scored on putbacks against taller defenders but she also scored off the dribble by attacking the basket powerfully. She showed nice body control on her finishes, she did that after contact, plus she handled the ball and saw the floor
Laressa Allison (Houston Dream) 2025
Allison is an athletic guard that applied plenty of “on the ball” heat on the defensive end in fact, she helped create turnovers by forcing players into traps as well as using her hands to come away with steals. She did a good job of not only creating her shot but knocking it down from mid to long-range
Makenzie Medellin (Leauge City Sharks) 2026
Medellin created her shot smoothly under pressure and her being able to set the defender up was nice. She handled the ball with ease while being defended and she showed good court vision, both in the set as well as in transition. She drop the pull-up jumper both in the set as well as in the open court and scored off the dribble
Karina Smith (Leauge City Sharks) 2026
Smith also did a good job of creating her shot under pressure and knocking down the pull-up jumper with a hand in her face was nice yet so was her using a deceptive first step to attack the basket and finish after contact. She handled the ball and saw the floor, her crisp passes in traffic were nice and she defended
Sara Rodriguez (Fundamentals R First)
Rodriguez used her length and athleticism well, she showed good timing to alter shots as well as play the passing lane. Her interior defense was nice, she rebounded both offensively and defensively and ran the floor on both ends of the court. Her staying with “it” off the rim also enabled her to score on putbacks, as well as around the basket
Jania Whitley (D5 Solid 16U)
Whitley is “long and athletic” and did a good job defending as well as rebounding on both ends of the court. Her first step is nice, it helped her go by defenders and she finished after contact
A’Rhiyana Taylor (D5 Solid 16U)
Taylor is “long and athletic” which was TAILOR-MADE for what she brought to the table. She scored off the dribble, she rebounded on both ends of the court and she dropped the jumper. She also did a good job defensively
Ciara Burns (D5 Solid 17U)
Burns showed she could definitely light a flame because she’s not only an athletic guard with a very nice first step, she battled for rebounds on both ends. Her aggressiveness on defense was nice, and so was her body control on her finishes. She also showed the jumper, both in the set as well as in transition
