With the 2022-2023 IHSAA girls’ basketball season in the rearview mirror, and with the all-state awards for each classification having been handed out, I wanted to finish highlighting several ladies from different areas of the state. Below is a look at a handful of ladies who stood out during the 2022-2023 season in the counties surrounding Indianapolis.

, 2023, 5-7 G, New Palestine H.S.
– “Bella” did a great job this season of continue to figure out different ways to get open without the ball, and different ways to score the ball once she had it. She was one of the state’s top scorers at 23.7 ppg, she is as tough as they come at the guard position, and she plays with a nice motor. I also really like how she gets after it defensively. She will attend the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne next year.

, 2023, 6-1 F, Zionsville Community H.S.
– Laila is the 2023 Miss Basketball in Indiana, so it’s hard to not talk about her here. She had a great season and a stellar career, and she should do big things at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) next year. She is extremely athletic, strong, and she did a nice job of developing her perimeter game throughout her career. The fact that she can go off the bounce or bury a 3-pointer is scary for most defenders.

, 2024, 6-1 F/C, Plainfield H.S.
– Payton had a really nice Junior year and played as consistently as she has throughout her career. She has a strong frame, and she can get inside and play with physicality, but she’s good in the mid-post because she has great touch there. She also can step outside and give options in the ball-screen game, because she can either roll and score it at the basket, or pop and knock down 3-pointers.
Reagan Wilson

, 2024, 5-7 PG, Noblesville H.S.
– After watching Reagan put on a show in the Sectional, she has really taken her game to the next level. She is much stronger now, more assertive as a scorer, and she is showing deeper range and elevation on her jumper. She has always been a great vocal leader and teammate, but now a lot of the skillful and physical things are becoming more elite. She has already given a verbal commitment to Iowa State University.

State

, 2025, 5-7 G, Alexandria-Monroe H.S.
– To the best of my knowledge, Jacklynn was the leading Sophomore scorer in the state at 24.0 ppg. She has great length, a fluid athleticism to her, and she plays with a nice motor and a great understanding of the game. She is best making plays in transition and getting to the basket, but she has solid shooting mechanics, and as she continues gaining strength, look for her to be even more dangerous outside.

Pendleton Heights | 2025
State
IN
, 2025, 5-8 W, Pendleton Heights H.S.
– Staying in Madison County, Kaycie had another strong year for the Arabians. She followed up her 15.8 ppg scoring average as a rookie with a 20.2 ppg scoring average this Winter. She was also better distributing the ball (2.4 apg), so she affected many more possessions offensively. She’s another kid, who, as she continues gaining strength, she should only be the much more productive and efficient.

Triton Central | 2026
State
IN
, 2026, 5-7 G, Triton Central H.S.
– Maryrose is one of the best shooters in Indiana’s Class of 2026, and she has been known as such for a while. Not only did she provide perimeter shooting for the Lady Tigers, but she also got to the free throw line, she rebounded it well for her position (5.0 rpg), and she helped set up teammates (2.1 apg). With a couple of key 2023 graduations, look for her to step into a major leadership role next year.

Lapel | 2026
State
IN
, 2026, 6-0 F, Lapel H.S.
– Laniah was a walking double-double this Winter, averaging 15.8 ppg and 12.4 rpg for the State Runner-Up Lady Bulldogs. She is a talented athlete with tremendous length, wiry strength, and the ability to make plays at all levels. She is best in the mid-post, as she isn’t a traditional back-to-the-basket post, but she can post up smaller defenders. As her skill continues to develop, her potential is endless.
