Continue ReadingI have always loved Natiah Nelson Natiah Nelson 5’10” | PG Africentric | 2024 State OH , but what a great game for the freshman Bowers (feature photo above) who really shined on the biggest stage. Bowers has a great variety of moves and uses her athleticism to help Africentric take control of the game. She scored 10 points in the game and controlled the tempo. Great skillset and energy for a freshman with an unlimited ceiling.
She has gotten overshadowed by the points scored from Nelson and even Bowers, but 2023 Ariel Grace Ariel Grace 5’5″ | PG Columbus Africentric | 2023 State OH is the athletic level-headed guard that Africentric needed to make a deep run in the tournament. Loved her grittiness and focus on doing the little things right, and making her team better. She can push the tempo and create shots for herself and her teammates. Uses her maturity to keep the team focused.

I honestly didn’t much about this Pirates team coming in, I was impressed with a few of these kids and one of them was Kennard, a guard who just seemed to play steady and composed no matter what was thrown at her. She only had a couple of turnovers and played well defensively with three steals. She also worked hard to get s team-high 6 rebounds and a quiet 10 points. Scrappy and heady guard.
Abby really showed me a hard working player who did the little things for her team to reach the finals. She grabbed a team-leading 11 rebounds in the semifinal game including three on the offensive end. She works hard and just battles. She also is a great distributor of the ball with 7 assists, finding the best shot option for her team making her unselfish.
Jaclyn Jundzilo
Jaclyn Jundzilo
An excellent three-point shooter and offensive threat for Chippewa. Hit clutch shot after clutch shot and was a key part in their 10-point semifinal win to push them into the finals. Good handles and can shoot well off the pass. Gets to her spots and moves well without the ball. Also grabbed 6 rebounds and had a couple of steals.
Impressed how she handled the ball and Jaelle did a lot of the little things for her team. Not only can she distribute the ball well as her team-high 6 assists would indicate but she has the ability to score from both outside on the perimeter or on the inside at the rim. Just has a good nose for the ball and the senior left everything on the table.
It was great to see Leibacher back in action after missing several games this season with an injury. She makes a huge difference in their offense and while I didn’t get to see all of their tournament games, I know enough about her game to believe she was a huge part of their state run. She is such a gamer and makes the right plays. She has some physicalness to her play and will knock them down from behind the arc. What a great career for such a talented player!
