The event consisted of two teams made up of some of the top seniors in the Southern California area. It was a fun game with a lot of good energy as these players get ready to end their high school careers. I was able to attend the event and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Sa’lah Hemingway

– Etiwanda
A Howard commit, Hemingway is a versatile forward who can impact the game in many ways. She’s comfortable handling the ball especially on the break and she makes good decisions with the ball in her hands. She can create her own shot in the halfcourt and she makes strong moves off the dribble to get to the basket. She can play inside as well, she’s strong and uses that to muscle in to grab rebounds. Good interior defender who alters/challenges shots at the rim.
2.
Queen Ruffin

Crossroads HS | 2023
State

– Santiago
Ruffin is an offensive sparkplug who can score points in a hurry. She’s a knockdown three-point shooter who only needs a little bit of space to get her shot off. She can knock down the catch and shoot three or she can hit the dribble pull-up three. Quick release to get her shot off before defenders can close out. Also able to attack off dribble and shoot the midrange pull-up. Combo guard who can be a playmaker as well.
3.
Citlali Salazar

Crenshaw | 2023
State
CA
– Crenshaw
Salazar is a good point guard who finds the right balance between looking for her teammates and knowing when to get a bucket. She plays under control and takes care of the ball, good handles. She pushes the pace well in transition. She can finish at the basket or she can pull-up and hit the jumper. Good footwork when she gets paint touches. Able to play the two-guard alongside another ball-handler.
4. Anyse Grimble – Westchester
Grimble is a good interior play who moves well and can be active in the paint. She runs the floor well and is a finisher in transition. She moves well off ball and that’s how she gets scoring opportunities. She makes good cuts to the basket and her teammates find her; soft touch at the basket. Good hands ready to catch passes.
