Zakiya Stephenson Zakiya Stephenson 5’7″ | PG Princess Anne | 2023 State VA was again the best player on the court, even on a rough shooting night. She was in attack mode all game and made up for her off-night shooting by getting to the line. She got there 13 times, converting 9 of them. Her final numbers were 24 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a class 5 state final win.
Princess Anne won with their defense Saturday, and Tinasia Spencer Tinasia Spencer 5’8″ | CG Princess Anne | 2024 State VA was critical in that. She was great on the glass with 11 rebounds, 5 offensive, and blocked 2 shots. She also finished a perfect 5-5 from the line.
Justice Hicks
Justice Hicks
L.C. Bird had difficulty not turning the ball over for much of the game, which was the biggest reason they lost. Justice Hicks was one of the only L.C. Bird players who did an excellent job with this. She was her teams leading scorer with 13 and leading rebounder with 9. She left some meat on the bone at the line missing 5, but she was still her team’s most productive offensive player.
Abigail Jordan
Abigail Jordan
Abigail was a sniper today from 3, knocking down four. She finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds and was one of the biggest offensive bright spots in a low-scoring affair.
Emmah was not at 100% today and couldn’t do what she usually does. But that didn’t stop her from playing about as hard as you could. She hobbled up and down the court but still dove on the floor and drove to the rim like she was healthy. Even not at full speed, she could get to the rim effectively and do a lot of work there. She also hit a shot from the logo to keep her team in the game with about 3 seconds to go. She finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Kaiya Williams
Kaiya Williams
In a low-scoring and relatively uneventful first half, Kaiya Williams was a big offensive bright spot. She hit two first-half threes and had 8 of her team’s 19 points heading to the break. Kaiya finished with 11 points, and 3 made threes. I love how hard Kaiya works; she impacts the game in multiple ways. Her shooting and energy were big in Clarke County’s win.
Selene Good
Selene Good
Selene Good was efficient as both a facilitator and scorer. She hit a clutch 3 and had 11 points on 8 shots. She only turned the ball over once and made the right basketball play every time.
Keira Rohrbach
Keira Rohrbach
Keira Rohrbach was the best defensive player on the floor today, and that’s saying a lot for a game that finished 45-41. She had 4 steals and 2 blocks to go along with 10 points. What I loved about Keira today was how clutch she was at the line. She made several of them down the stretch and looked confident doing them. She was 6-6 at the line and made the two-game clinching FTs.
