Roster Breakdown
Sawyer Stoebner Sawyer Stoebner 5'10" | CG Mitchell | 2024 State SD will look to play a pivotal role on this talented roster at Sanford Sports. She can score at all levels with a solid 3-point shot, a mid-range game, and the ability to get to the paint and finish at the basket. She features a lot of versatility in her ability to score in the paint and from the perimeter. Look for her to continue her aggressive play as a dribble-drive guard and demonstrate a great ability to finish with a variety of moves. One of the best rebounders from a guard spot, she snags boards on both ends to limit her opponent’s possessions and increase her own.
Jordyn Williams Jordyn Williams 5'8" | CG Garretson | 2024 State SD is a very athletic prospect that will help this team greatly on both ends. She has great vertical ability allowing her to play even taller than her 5’8″ frame and alter the game on both ends. On defense, she can get up and block shots and she uses her athleticism to pressure the passing lanes and the ball while keeping her opponent in front. On offense, she can knock down the 3 and can create for herself and others off the dribble drive.
Musonda Kabwe Musonda Kabwe 5'9" | PG Hamlin | 2024 State SD is a talented guard who can hit from beyond the 3-point line and has solid ball-handling skills to go along with her shooting. She has an impressive ability to weave through the defense and change speeds in order to go by the defense and get to the rim. Her high basketball IQ allows her to understand when to get her own shot and when to create for others. On defense, she can defend the full length of the floor and brings great energy on the floor.
Harley Johnson Harley Johnson 5'10" | SG Webster Area | 2025 State SD will give this team a defender who can put pressure on the basketball and is smart about using her quickness to create turnovers on that end. On offense, Harley will be a great contributor as well as she has great vision and sets up her teammates for shot opportunities with ease.
Ana Veldkamp is a hard-working forward who will benefit her squad on both ends. She has a quick step to the basket and can finish around the basket. She has great athleticism making her a great rebounder, intense defender, and all-around asset.
Hannah Leverson Hannah Leverson 5'4" | PG Sisseton | 2024 State SD is the definition of a sniper. Opposing coaches have to consistently think about where she is at and adjust their defense accordingly. She is one of the most consistent shooters you will find and has great rhythm and balance in her shooting form along with a quick trigger to get her shot off.
Isabel Carda is a dynamic athlete who plays with a really high motor and gives great effort to aid in her team’s success on both ends. She runs the floor extremely well and can score in transition. In the half-court, she does a really nice job of staying aggressive and finding seams to get to the rim with the basketball. She’s a tough defender who will get up in her opponent and make them work, and she gets after it on the boards as well.
Jocelyn Barron is a strong post-type player that has a great mix of inside and outside game. She is a great finisher around the rim and uses her strength and impressive footwork to score inside. Her outside shooting game is an added element to her game, making her a really impressive prospect that fits the style of today’s game. She has an immense work ethic and is one of the most talented and willing rebounders you will find.
Aweng Akoi Aweng Akoi 6'2" | C O’Gorman | 2024 State SD is an impressive prospect at 6’3″, athletic, and possessing some of the greatest length you will find in the state. Her offensive game has gotten better each year and she has developed a really balanced post-game. Left-handed, she is able to get to that hand often until other defenders figure her out, and she has improved greatly in being able to finish with both hands. She has added a solid mid-range game on her ability to catch at the high post and hit the jumper or get to the rim in one big dribble and finish. On defense, she continues to be one of the most influential players in the paint around as she is a really solid shot-blocker and moves well at over six feet tall!
Elly Doering Elly Doering 5'11" | SF Alcester-Hudson | 2024 State SD is a strong paint presence who finishes well with both hands and has really solid post footwork. She can knock down jump shots from the high post area as well to round out a really impressive scoring game. Great vision allows her to set up shots for her teammates as well so it is in the best interest of her teammates to get her paint touches as she knows how to create on offense. On defense, she is a tough defender who can alter shots at the rim and limit touches of opposing post players. Rounding out her solid game is the ability to rebound on both ends and a great work ethic.

Thoughts from Coach Brown
Coach Lillie Brown is most excited about this team’s speed and ability to push the ball down the court. They will practice twice a week starting in April and wrapping up in July. She feels the greatest strengths of this team are their speed and strength paired with a lot of long, quick athletes. On offense look for this group to push the ball up the court quickly for layups and when that isn’t there, settle into the half-court and pound the ball inside and look for kick-out threes. Defensively they will look to run a lot of full-court man with a tough press. The events coach is looking forward to the most are their tournaments in Chicago at the Nike Tournament of Champions and the North Tartan Meltdown in Minneapolis. She is also proud of the work these kids do in the classroom with a team GPA of 3.8. This group is getting it done on and off the court!
