Continue ReadingI left the tournament disappointed that I wasn’t able to see more games. I didn’t see all the teams play. Two of the best guards I saw, I can’t find on any roster. They played for Lady Fly Select. I’m assuming division 1. Tough to see as much as you would like but here are some more players that stood out.
Ella was getting buckets from inside and out. She is a good shooter with some deep range, hitting several threes. She is a strong guard who can score inside and play through contact. She handles the ball with her head up, under control. She did a lot of the primary ball handling for her team and handled it well. She is best as a shooter but her ability to work her way to the basket was on display as well. rn

She was the best athlete on the floor in the game I watched. She is versatile with her ability to do so many things using that athleticism. She rebounds, and took a couple coast to coast for layups, mostly because she was faster than anyone else. She can be elite on the defensive end, and is elite in the open floor, although she may get ahead of herself at times. She is big time athlete who can play anywhere on the floor, offensively and defensively. I didn’t see her shoot too many jumpers, mostly because she was ahead of the pack on the break. I would put my money on her in a 50 yard dash. I would also invest in the athletic ability at the next level.

As an 8th grader, she showed some serious upside. She didn’t play like an 8th grader. She has a strong skill set, didn’t look out of place and got a few buckets in the game I watched. She showed a nice pull-up jumper, ran the floor well, and rebounded. She will be a versatile player with her length and ball skills. She is way ahead of the game at her age. Look for her to be a player to watch next season and on.
She is a senior this year but showed that she has the ability to play at the next level. She has had a great high school career with Tumwater. She battled through a mid-season injury and returned to help lead Tumwater to the state tournament. She played tough and scored points from the line after drives to the hoop or offensive rebounds. She is a guard who can rebound, and plays tough defense. She has a great shooting touch, especially from mid-range. She could play anywhere from the 1 through 3 positions and be effective, although more of a scoring guards.
Jordan had a good overall game and showed a lot of skills on the offensive end. She made some tough shots and was one of the leading scorers for EBC ELITE in the game I watched. She is a good shooter with range. She has good quickness to the hoop and on the defensive end of the floor. A guard with decent length and better athletic ability. She can score in a variety of ways.
Highlights
I talk about athleticism a lot. That is because if you have it, then there’s the chance to have a higher ceiling as a player. It means you can develop specific skills and add to the athletic ability if you work hard enough. Annie has athleticism and showed some skills in the low post. She was a capable scoring threat and a good rebounding player. She showed some nice footwork that led to baskets or getting fouled. She plays hard and has that high ceiling with her length to go with the athletic ability.
