Deep South Classic – Peach State Prospects (Part 2)

That season has led us to the weekend of April 21-23 and the first live period of this year's campaign.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the many events that took place around the country was the Deep South Classic that welcomed teams from around the region and country for a weekend of exciting basketball. Raleigh is home to the Raleigh Convention Center (where the event took place), the North Carolina state capitol and NC State University – a nationally-ranked women's college basketball program.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand for the festivities. Its Dawson County MS connection came up big for the team in its matchup against another Georgia team in Team SSB Prime 14U. Green finished with 10 points to lead all scorers and among those 10 points were eight she placed on the board in the first half. Green will battle for rebounds and displays her toughness with her willingness to fall to the floor to complete a play. One of her made baskets for the game came by virtue of a 3-pointer and she also displays how accurate she can be from midrange. She also only had two personal fouls called against her in a matchup that was lopsided and would have likely gone her team's way regardless of what referees were working it. Along with being a threat from deep, Brown is also willing to help out on double teams and displayed great ball movement in tandem with the rest of her Peak Performance 7u003csupu003ethu003c/supu003e National teammates. She contributed six points to her team's efforts in what was a lopsided victory over fellow Georgia combatants Team SSB Prime 14U. Defensively, she is a possibility to create additional possessions for her team with the steals she can compile. Offensively, Douglas will showcase her impressive ball handling skills along with a knack to deliver strong finishes at the basket. Branch scored seven points in what was a hard-fought matchup between her team and Phoenix 2027 14U out of Texas, but her value went past her scoring. She takes full advantage of that height advantage with the minutes she receives on the court and is willing to hustle out to the arc to play perimeter defense. As a defender, she will have occasions where her arms remain outstretched. She is also likely to draw contact which will give her opportunities to connect at the free throw line. All seven of the points she scored in that mid-afternoon contest were tallied in the first half.
