In this article, I’ll be taking an in-depth look at the newly formed Grit Hoops, a program that was started last year and is looking to make a name for themselves this season. I’ll be breaking down both of their 16U teams, from players to watch, standouts, and names to know.
16U Purple
This is another team that could possibly make some noise this summer, their well balanced and has multiple scoring options on the wing and in the post. Obviously, Tatum Jones Tatum Jones 6'0" | PF Mullen | 2025 State CO is the player that will draw the most attention as the Grassroots season starts. At 6’2 she is gives them a solid post presence as well as a capable ball-hander to relieve pressure. Jane Rumpf Jane Rumpf 6'2" | PF Regis Jesuit | 2025 State CO will be another player to keep an eye on this summer, she has formed into a double-double machine that will benefit from being able to play next to Jones. The guard combination of Keaton Arangua-Egbert Keaton Arangua-Egbert 5'8" | CG Mullen | 2025 State CO and Grace Stanley will be exciting to see as both are unrated prospects that can score in a variety of ways, while still being able to keep their teammates involved. Sophomore Lauren Perkins Lauren Perkins 5'7" | CG Eaglecrest | 2025 State CO and Brooke Harding Brooke Harding 5'10" | SG Rock Canyon | 2025 State CO will be the X-Factors of this team serving as Swiss army knife players for this team, with both having the skill set to defend and score when needed. Mason Borcherding Mason Borcherding 6'1" | PF Legend | 2025 State CO and Brooke Harding Brooke Harding 5'10" | SG Rock Canyon | 2025 State CO will be leading scorers on this team plenty of times this summer with them being able to always find the open spot on the floor.
16U Silver
Angeline McCombs
Maddie Jenkins
Maley Wihelm
Izzy Davies
Mary Jane Archibald
This team has some relatively new faces on it, many of who could play big roles at their respective schools next season. So, them getting a chance to all play on a team together will be great for them in figuring out where they belong on the court. Aislyn Korella Aislyn Korella 5'9" | SF Legend | 2025 State CO and Izzy Davies are two names that stand out the most well having limited roles last season, they will be eager to have a larger role and prove that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. Eve Brustkern Eve Brustkern SG Bishop Machebeuf | 2026 State CO and Maddie Jenkins are intriguing because they both have some upside on the defensive end with their length and ability to guard multiple positions. Mary Jane Archiibald and Maley Wihelm are both players I will be curious to watch and learn more about. This team does have youth on it with Angeline McCombs, she is a 2027 kid playing up this summer to gain some experience before she heads into Regis Jesuit next year. She is a tough guard that takes pride in her defense, refusing to get scored on but she is also a capable scorer on the offensive end of the floor.
