They didn’t always score the most points, but they would fight for the rebound, chase down 50/50 balls, dive on the floor, and play tough defense.
Josie Grosdidier Josie Grosdidier 5'11" | PF Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS | Forward | Kansas Elite 2024 Novicoff
Players that don’t care about shot attempts or points scored are a breath of fresh air. Every time Josie stepped on the floor she did whatever was needed for her team to win. She demonstrated that she has some ability to handle the ball in the open court and she could finish in traffic. But it was the unselfishness, setting good screens, aggressively attacking the boards, diving after loose basketballs, and running the floor hard that impressed me. Josie also did a good job defensively with her versatility to defend multiple positions.
Lacy Brough | Guard | MO Legacy 2024
I love seeing small guards that play with a lot of heart. Lacy never backed down from anyone the whole weekend. She was one of the toughest players I saw at the Wheat State Slam. She’s a quick lead guard with a nice handle who loves to attack the defense off the dribble. She can shift the defense to get into a mid-range pull-up or she can spot up and get off the three-pointer with her quick release. Defensively, she gave 100% effort. Whether she was getting back in transition, defending the ball, or playing the passing lanes, Lacy was going to give great effort.
Taylor Foster Taylor Foster 6'1" | PF Branson | 2024 MO | Forward | Missouri Flight 2024
I love watching aggressive players that play with passion. Taylor played with an edge that was all about winning. Taylor can play inside and out from the low block, high post, or make plays off the catch from the wing. When on the low block she can finish around the rim when pressured or in traffic. Taylor can also attack off the catch from the perimeter. She does a good job of attacking off the dribble in a straight line to get in the paint and finish over the defense. Defensively she’s not afraid to guard anyone. She’s going to give you the effort needed when guarding the ball or when in help position.
Parish Norfleet | Forward | Oklahoma Royal Legacy 2024
When you talk about playing hard, Parish is one of the first names to come to mind. She was definitely the heart of her OK Royal Legacy team. She doesn’t mind doing all the dirty work that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. On one possession Parish will guard a perimeter player and then the next possession she could be defending a post player several inches taller than her. Despite being smaller than the post players she faced or having to defend a quick point guard, Parish was going to give the effort needed to make them work. She also would grab defensive rebounds and push the ball in transition looking to make a play.
Boston Wand | Post | Flash KC 2024
I’ve seen several players that have size but play small. Majority of the time when Boston has a size advantage she would be aggressive. The 6’0 post player rebounded well and had a good defensive presence. Anytime the ball was thrown into the lane or there was penetration, Boston was there providing help. Forcing the offense to have to shoot over her. She played tough by finishing in the lane through contact or in traffic.
