Continue ReadingThe idea for this article came due to a problem I had trying to post articles with players from more than two sates. I had already written most of my previous article about players in the class of 2028 and started working on an evaluation one of these players. All of the previous players were from Kentucky or Ohio, but the site would not allow me to post an article with players from three states. So I took out the Indiana player, substituted another player and moved on.
Sometimes the hardest part of working on content after an event like this one is deciding which players will be covered in which article. This time necessity has forced me into covering the players from Indiana that stood out to me this past weekend in an article all by themselves. Hence, the idea of an article only discussing players from the Hoosier State was born. There was no other way I could do it without encountering the same “three state” problem or leaving too many players out entirely.
Maybe I will do something like this more often in the future. Or maybe someone from the company will tell me how to post articles with more than two States tagged. Stay tuned.
Emily Robison
Emily Robison
Robison is a crafty and shifty Guard with a knack for driving the lane and foring a foul. She then toes up to the line and knocks down free throws. She was consistently forcing the defense to stop her with the ball early or pay late with textbook finishes or personal fouls. She has the skills to take the ball to the basket, knock down the three. or pull up early for the free throw line jumper.
She is a competitor on the move with the ball, not willing to pick the ball up in the face of the defense, instead looking to push it on through until something presents itself. That is a trait that can get a dribbler into trouble at times if their eyes do not stay down court. Robison keeps her head up while she dribbles, so she did not have any such problems that I can remember. For a player I have seen only once her court vision was impressive, but I would like how she handles an Elite Press. I am sure tis isn’t my last chance to see her work since she is from just across the River and a 2027.

Schnaus played a great game except that her shots weren’t falling. I told her afterward that I though most of her misses were due to not putting enough force behind the ball. Having a light touch around the rim is an important skill, but she was being just a little bit to delicate with the ball. I hope it helped. She has a collection of interior moves that can make her extremely hard to stop if she gets the right touch on the ball.
The defense was doing their best to rough her up a bit (in a legal way) to make it as difficult on her as possible. Her balance and toughness against such tactics was impressive but still needs improvement. She seemed fairly well focused on what she was trying to do and made good decisions on which angles she took to put up her shots. For a player about to enter her Freshman year of High School there is a ton of potential to her game. With just a little more experience, moe strength and all of the things that come with age to a basketball player she is going to prove to be a next level player.
Her limits, as with most Bigs, will come with how much size she develops (or fails to develop). As of now (except for strength) she would already be a solid option for some small college teams. If she gets tall enough and strong enough I believe she will have the skills to play just about anywhere she wants. And, of course, if the size doesn’t come she can always continue to develop additional skills to branch out into other positions. It is just too early to tell with such little information available to me.
Taylor Weyer
Taylor Weyer
Weyer impacts the game with her hustle, shooting and by running the floor. She has the ability to put the ball on the floor and the quickness and long strides to explode to the hoop for a layup. She has a nice looking outside shot from three point range and is a bit of a slasher. But I think her best asset right now might be her ability to motor on to get down the court to score off of passes from her teammates in run out situations. She plays with a high motor that makes her an asset on defense and chasing down loose balls.
Makenna Taylor
Makenna Taylor
Taylor is a floor general that runs the show with a poise that is hard to find in a player her age. She is very elusive with the ball against full court pressure and keeps herself out of bad situations with her court vision. She has most of the Guard skills needed to be ab excellent operator in most scenarios, but needs work on her crossover in open court trapping situations. I say this based on one instance where a well-timed jump trap disrupted her rhythm and forced her into a turnover. A simple crossover would have beaten it with ease but it threw her and for that instant and what was an excellent display of ballhandling prowess turned into one ugly moment. She’ll fix it. She has 5 years.
Still, Taylor was impressive. Late in the game I saw she drove the ball full court through the defense as if they were cones in a drill. And her opposition was not a weak squad. I’ve seen them enough to know that all of these teams play hard nosed defense. She never appeared to be tired or out of breath and except for that one moment looked like a major Point Guard prospect to me.
Se’rae Bundrent-Palmer
Se’rae Bundrent-Palmer
Bundrent-Palmeris the epitome of quicky, speedy, fast, whatever word you want to use to describe someone who can move around rapidly would probably fit. So fast that I didn’t even really notice her footwork, which is always something I try to get a feel for when evaluating a player. I was too busy watching her torso fly around on defense and seeing her push the ball up the court on offense. She can take the ball a long distance in a very short amount of time
The first thing I remember about seeing her play was that she hit a short corner jumper from about 8 feet out. She made a few other corner jumpers on the day which to mem from a player her age suggests she has a hoop she practice on that is in a driveway or an alley with tons of space to the sides but not much space to the top of the key. I don’t know that I’m right, but that seems like a strange shot to have that developed this early if not for spending lots of time playing in that environment.
She picked an opponent clean and threw a dime 3/4 of the court to hit a teammate for a layup and made a sling pass from the left wing to hit another teammate for a layup. Overall she was impressive when she used her speed to get into space with the ball and to take up space while pressing full court on defense.
The packet had her listed as a student at Sacred Heart Ms, and Ms on these packets tend to mean Middle School. I have to wonder if this one isn’t supposed to mean Model School,, because I know that school exists in Louisville, but the packet says she is from Indiana. Se’rae, if you are reading this you may need to edit your profile if I am correct on my hunch.
