All are working to improve their game to help their high school team compete for championships. Following on the heals of the first ten, Enjoy this quick view of the second.
Aleah Moree Aleah Moree 6'2" | C Winfield | 2024 State KS , 6’2″, C, Winfield, Southwest Elite – Moree made an immediate impact as a freshman, showing herself to arguably be the top true center prospect in the class. With terrific size and strength, she has an ability to fight through contact and traffic. A consistent mid-range scorer Moree uses a variety of post moves from back-to-basket and face-up games. She is also a strong rebounder on each end, a major problem on the offensive glass. Moree transitions well and is a strong defender. Difficult to move, she takes up space and has good hops to shot block without fouling. A three-time Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Div III first team selection, Moree was the player the year in 2022. An honorable mention selection in 2023, Moree also has earned KBCA honors three times. Varsity Kansas included her as a 2023 honorable mention as well. She is uncommitted.
Zion Butler Zion Butler 5'8" | PG Wichita South | 2024 State KS , 5’7″, PG, Wichita South, Wichita Phenom – A 2023 KBCA 6A honorable mention and Varsity Kansas third team selection, Butler also earned Greater Wichita Area League first team honor in 2023. She was second team in 2022, honorable mention in 2021. Butler had a strong 2023 season, averaging 17.3 points, 3 assists, 2.5 seals, and had a 1.5 assists-to-turnovers ratio. With 33 makes while shooting 32% from beyond the arc, Butler has deep range. She gained in strength over the previous year. While she is speedy, the strength shows in how well she works in control with her strong handles. In the open court, Butler is very fast with the ball. She is uncommitted.
Ashley Singhateh Ashley Singhateh 5'8" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’8, PG, Eureka, Southwest Elite/Arkansas Banshees – The three-time Tri-Valley League first team selection also repeated as KBCA second team and received Varsity Kansas second team honors. Athletic with great hops, Singhateh is extremely tough off the bounce due to her quickness, hops, and athleticism. Her strong build and overall toughness enable her to rebound well and finish through contact. Singhateh also has good court vision to push the ball down the floor with the pass. She is uncommitted.
Jillian Huckabey Jillian Huckabey 6'0" | SG Olathe Northwest | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, SG, Olathe Northwest – The Florida International volleyball commit earned 2023 KBCA 6A second team and Varsity Kansas third team honors. She also earned first team Sunflower League honors after being third team in 2022, honorable mention in 2021. Huckabey is quick on both ends of the floor and transitions with speed. Off the rebound she goes end-to-end with speed. Huckabey is a good free throw shooter who gets her share of “And 1s” due to an ability to finish through contact and being a good free throw shooter. A very good three point shooter, she is especially good off the catch and shoots it with elevation. Does a great job of keeping the ball high and going back up quickly with elevation for a put back.
Josie Grosdidier Josie Grosdidier 5'11" | PF Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, PF, Blue Valley Northwest, Kansas Elite – 2023 Eastern Kansas League honorable mention, 2022 second team, 2021 honorable mention. I have long appreciated the strength and fluidness of Grosdidier’s back-to-basket game. My PGH colleagues Brady Peterson and David Gardner saw her play last summer and reported good things. They both liked her size, length, and how hard she worked on the interior. Theyy felt she works hard to get her shot off inside and plays with the same energy on the defensive end. At times they felt she was dominant at time. PGH’s PJ Jones included her on his Wheat State Slam all-toughness team in April because of all the little things she does: Diving for loose balls, setting screens, getting on the boards, attacking through contact, and defending multiple positions.
Elise Grosdidier Elise Grosdidier 5'10" | SF Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, SF, Blue Valley Northwest, Kansas Elite – 2023 Eastern Kansas League third team, 2022 second team, 2021 honorable mention. Grosdidier has a diverse game that finds her working on the perimeter and inside. A legitimate perimeter shooter, she also lays down good power moves from her block game. 5.16.22 PGH’s Brady Peterson reported good things from the PGH Midwest Melee in a 2022 article. He was very impressed with her athleticism to block shots and her athletic play around in the half court, especially around the basket.
Elizabeth Tjaden Elizabeth Tjaden 5'9" | SG Clearwater | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, SG, Clearwater, Southwest Elite – Tjaden has been a KBCA honoree for the past two years. She is also a two-time AVCTL Div IV first team. Tjaden’s game took off over the past year. It did not spell good things for opponents because she also grew a couple inches. A bigger, faster, stronger Tjaden made her a more difficult mismatch than ever. She has long been a terrific scorer from all three levels, able to beat players off the dribble. A physical player on both ends, she also rebounds with strength and takes the ball end-to-end with speed.
Maxine Doering Maxine Doering 5'8" | SG Manhattan | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, SG, Manhattan, SSA – It baffles me how a player like Doering receives so little attention for what she brings to the table. How important? Returning from injury in mid-January she made a big impact on a double-overtime win over then 5A #1 Emporia. Not only is she able to defend multiple positions but is a serious perimeter threat with a high arching, soft shot. Doering has good handles in the half court and rebounds at a high level on both ends. She uses the glass well on finishes, moves well without the ball, and is a quality mid-range scorer. She is uncommitted.
Zaylee Werth Zaylee Werth 6'0" | CG Hillsboro | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, CG, Hillsboro, Wheat State Elite – Werth has always reminded me of Fort Hays State University signee Telexa Weeter of Goodland. She is big, long, strong, athletic with good transition speed and has good ball skills. She has good touch from three and has no problem getting physical working inside to get a bucket. My PGH colleague Brandon Bradley saw her late last summer and pictured her as a “face-up ‘4’ with a versatile skill set.” A 2023 KBCA and Varsity Kansas 2A first team selection, Werth has made it two years in a row as first team Central Kansas League. She has been drawing NCAA division II interest.
Jacqueline Hall Jacqueline Hall 5'10" | PG Pittsburg | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, PG, Pittsburg, Missouri Legacy – The two-time Southeast Kansas League second teamer is pretty much unknown across the state. While she runs the show with good leadership for the Purple Dragons I can see her playing the point up to even a stretch four at the next level. She has terrific footwork, quickness, length, and hands. Catching on the fly or off the bounce Hall finishes fluidly with either hand and at speed. She will also hurt opponents with her perimeter shooting. Rangy with a quick release, she is a strong jump shooter. She has also caught the attention of other PGH scouts. Last summer Michael Riddle shared how well she consistently broke down defensive pressure, got to the rim, and finished with east. He also said she can lock up an opponent defensively. April reports from PJ Jones and Simmie Colson described many of the same things. Hall is uncommitted.
