This incoming Freshman Class has dynamic guards who will do damage running the floor in transition, shooting it from beyond the arc and making impacts everywhere in between. We’ll take a look at 6 players who will be dangerous back-court threats on their future high school teams.
Kaitlyn Platt Kaitlyn Platt 5'9" | SG Pope John | 2027 State NJ (SG, Pope John)
Basketball talent runs deep in the Platt household. Older sister Addy made a splash onto the scene last Fall and now younger sister Kaitlyn will look to do the same in her debut. Her ability to score it at all 3 levels is tough for defenders to fully contain. At 5’9″, she plays “big guard basketball” and uses her handles and quickness in combination with her size and strength to effectively take opponents off the dribble. She is lethal from 3, has a smooth pull-up jumper and can split defenders and spin her way inside for a quick 2.
Madeline Nolan Madeline Nolan 5'7" | CG Manchester Township | 2027 State NJ (CG, Manchester Twp)
Alongside one of the nation’s top ranked players in Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ , Maddie will give Manchester Twp a lethal back-court duo. Her ability to speed past the primary defender, penetrate the defense and finish through contact makes her tough to stop. She can knock it down from just about anywhere and possesses a silky smooth and reliable jump shot. Sheer athleticism and a motor that never quits gives her a big advantage over many.
Lauryn Downing Lauryn Downing 5'6" | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2027 State NJ (PG, undecided)
Lauryn exudes confidence on the court, and with a skill-set as impressive as hers, who wouldn’t?! She is a sharpshooter with range that extends beyond the 3-point arc and the ability to dance with the ball and shake-n-bake defenders on her way to the hoop. She frees herself from defenders and gets to her spots very quickly around the perimeter. Her ball distribution is top-notch and she does a nice job setting up teammates to score.
Brooke Jaenicke Brooke Jaenicke 5'6" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2027 NJ (SG, Rumson-Fair Haven)
When Brooke gets out full steam ahead in transition, you can count it for 2 before she even gets to the basket. Her ability to read the passing lanes, grab the steal and sprint the other way is both highly impressive and efficient. She has quick, ever-present hands and extreme grit. She gets a lot of paint touches and isn’t afraid to penetrate the defense and go up against bigger, taller post players.
Avery Barth Avery Barth 5'4" | CG St. John Vianney | 2027 NJ (CG, St. John Vianney)
A skilled two-way player, Avery brings a high basketball acumen, very reliable jump shot and strong defense to Vianney. She has quickness in the open court and electric energy from the first whistle to the last. She has high efficiency to 20 feet and can get hot in a hurry. A scrappy perimeter defender, Avery’s quick & feisty in-your-face hands convert high-pressure defense into quick-hitting transition offense.
Rebecca Benichou Rebecca Benichou 5'6" | SG Wildwood | 2027 State NJ (PG, Wildwood)
A vocal leader and offensive threat, Rebecca is certain to make an immediate impact for Coach Cunniff and the Warriors. She can turn the jets on at the drop of a dime, put her head down & power her way to the hoop. Her ability to weave through defenders and draw contact creates chances for free points at the charity stripe. Perimeter defenders have to be on their A-game when Rebecca is lurking because of her steady mid-range game and spot-up 3-point shooting.
