With Spring ball wrapping up, I was able to see a lot of new players with huge potential to be a key addition to a college program. With offers being a huge stamp on that potential.. below are some of the top new additions in the latest rankings!
Sullivan is utilized as a guard, but has the frame of a post. At 6’4 her skill set seems to be guard focused, which will translate to college.. seeing that her position gets pushed to a 2-4. She has the length to guard the backcourt, and the size to deal with the frontcourt. Her game is no where near its peak, but the commitment to Tulsa should have her on a fast track to develop her skills., seeing that she sits perfect with their system.
Highlights
Jumping on the scene this past year, Awou captured a strong amount of high level D1 offers due to her athleticism, frame and willingness to do whatever is needed of her on the court. Diving, chasing and even being a paint blanket. At 6’4/6’5 the skill set she posses is in the works, but it’s understandable why colleges are betting on her potential. As her knowledge of defensive rotations, offensive awareness and ability increases, Lorena will be a for sure standout in this class.
True combo guards are always at the top of my list. When you know that you can put the ball in the hoop at a higher clip than others, but you still find the balance to feed and eat.. it stands out immediately (and translates at the next level). Julia does that plus more. Her aggression on defensive side isn’t overlooked either. As the offers pile up, it’s clear that D1 programs are in need of her services as a playmaker or a scorer.
The handles are tight, the ability to get to the rim in a solid amount of moves, and the vision and awareness of her teammates are strong. Erickson has that “it” factor. The confidence, the swag and the ultra competitive nature should do her well at the next level.. and if she lands in the right situation, Audrey will make some noise when she arrives. Tons of potential.
As Johnson name keeps circulating in the basketball world, I’m sure colleges will start calling from all levels. Pure athleticism, solid decision maker and the attitude to be whatever is needed of her for the team. She can score, defend and rebound at a high clip and not to mention she doesn’t seem to burn out quick. As the skills become more polished, Jadea’s upside will continue to rise.
Great decision maker, extreme hard worker, and plays the game simple but it is highly effective. Carney just gets the job done when her number is called. She has experience as the focal point, and the experience as a role player.. she shines at both. Three levels of scoring, disciplined defense and the energy and motor to produce from start to finish.
Bafia is built solid, and her ability to use it to score and to create plays for her teammates is something to notice too. Committing to St Xavier earlier this year (a perfect fit for her, in my opinion), Veronica has a good idea of what to focus on when adding more to her tool bag. She can score at multiple levels, defend multiple positions and her downhill game is a lot to deal with for the defense. High upside.
Knockdown shooters have the ability to get their shot off from anywhere, at any moment. Alayna has that. Petalber is just as accurate off the dribble as she is in catch and shoot situations. She has strong ball handling skills, the ability to make difficult but pinpoint passes, and also has the heart and competitive energy to take charges, dive for extra possessions, and guard who ever is in front of her. A solid piece for any program.
