These point guards were primary ball handlers who put their respective teams in the right sets to run their offense. They were impressive running the show and delivering pin point passes, penetrating and kicking the ball to the open shooter, shooting the three, and getting to the rim on dribble drives. The article hilights the players who were the “floor generals” at the Daytona State College camp.
Tia Dobson Tia Dobson 5'5" | PG Mainland | 2024 State FL played very well and really stood out at the point guard position. She was like at blur at times up and down the court. Other times, Dobson put her offense in sets and controlled the offensive flow and spacing. She also shot the three ball and midrange shots with efficiency. Dobson has elite speed on the basketball court and is very good in open space and in the transition game. Her court vision is very good and she knows how to draw defenses to her and set up the dish to an open teammate.
Kiyana Hunter Kiyana Hunter 5'3" | PG Mandarin | 2024 State FL played very well at the Daytona State Basketball Camp. Hunter was dropping pin pointpasses all tournament long to her bigs down low. She also did a great job of drawing the defense and kicking the pass to open teammates on the wing. Hunter shot the ball well from behind the three point line and also shot it well from the midrange area. Her speed and the ability to go left and right put the defense on their heels and she was able to consistently get to the rim.
Gabrielle Fajardo
Gabrielle Fajardo
Gabrielle Fajardo is without the question the engine that runs her team. Fajardo sets the tempo for her squad and does so for the entire game. She constantly got to the freethrow line because of her agressive attack on the basket. She is also a very good shooter from behind the three point line as well. In the transition game is where she flourishes. She was a standout on Day one of the camp.
Soraya Johan
Soraya Johan
Soraya Johan played well and was a versatile point guard who shot the ball well, penetrated well, and passed the ball well to the open teammates. Johan was a very good shooter who could score in the midrange area and also behind the three point line. She was also versatile enough to set up in the post and control the flow of the offense from there. She did a good job as a floor general and set the tempo for her team on the offensive end.
