We continue our content over the summer on the high school side with a preview on what is to come from the conference. Plenty of great players means plenty of great play upcoming. This article will discuss some of the best scorers in the state, players who are putting together great careers and are close to reaching the 1000 point plateau.

[player_tooltip player_id='488671' first='Brooke' last='Baisley'] - Gill St. Bernard's (2024)

Baisley is coming off her best high school season to date and a season that was worthy of all-conference consideration. She averaged 13.4 PPG and nearly seven rebounds a game, developing a strong three-point shot while being equally effective on the defensive front. That scoring outburst put her just over 320 points away from 1000, and while it might be close, we think that she will comfortably reach that mark next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='488673' first='Iyanna' last='Cotten'] - Franklin (2024)

Cotten is going to make things close as she's roughly 340 points away from 1000 headed into her senior season, but we think she can reach the mark. She's been on the come up for the past two years, averaging a career-high 12.8 PPG as a junior for Franklin. Cotten is the leader of this team, the backbone of the program, and while that will attract more attention on the court, that shouldn't detract from her overall success.

Francesca Shiro - Hillsborough (2025)

Shiro honestly was an all-conference caliber player last season for Hillsborough, having one of the most complete seasons we've seen from any guard recently, with 16.8 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 4.6 APG, nearly four steals a game and well over a block and made three-pointer a game. It was truly special watching her play, and with under 200 points left before 1000, she should be able to reach that mark before the halfway point of next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='406951' first='Rachel' last='Castela'] - Mount St. Mary (2024)

We might have mentioned Castela in one of these types of articles before, but talking about the Skyland Conference, she's definitely one of the best all-around players over the last several years. Also, she took a big jump in production as a junior in other facets of her game aside from scoring, which rounded out her production that much more. She's 314 points away from 1000 and looking at her career, that is well within reach.

[player_tooltip player_id='488680' first='Jaelyn' last='Morris'] - Warren Hills (2024)

When it comes to underrated players in North Jersey, Morris fits the billing, and she's done a fantastic job at carving out a name for herself at Warren Hills. The rising senior is coming off a season where she averaged 12.8 PPG along with 33 three-pointers in 28 games. If she can increase her three-point production while continuing to find her stride as a guard, she's got a fantastic chance at 1000, currently sitting 379 points away.

[player_tooltip player_id='414401' first='Taylor' last='Francis'] - Pingry (2025)

Do not ignore the rising juniors in this conference because they are lethal scorers, led by Francis, who was fantastic last season, averaging 16.8 PPG in 27 games for Pingry. She's been a great three-point shooter throughout her high school career, and her offensive play style was turned up a notch as a sophomore. She's less than 270 points away from 1000 and we're excited to see her hit that milestone next season.
