Continue ReadingAn elite academic student with a 4.9 GPA, Rietveld should start popping up on college radars. Taylor’s size and length is the first thing you notice, but it is her mobility that really is impressive. She is good at catching in the high post and ripping through for drives. Taylor runs the floor in transition and cleans up the glass. She tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in a 31-22 win over Rabun County.
The veteran point guard has seen major minutes since Day 1. Mekera is an exciting ball handler that spurts by defenders using a variety of moves. She used her elusiveness to break down Lassiter’s defense, resulting in 15 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. She knocked down two mid-range pull-ups, two short shots and swished a three.
The play of Mariah Miller Mariah Miller 6’0″ | PF Union Grove | 2024 State GA against Galloway had coaches talking. They liked her size and leaping ability. Miller crashed in for rebounds and was impressive scoring through contact. Miller collected 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block.
The summer of Shakiria rolled on at GBCA, powering the Trojans game in and game out. She posted 17 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals in a 48-29, sinking three threes in the process. Foster is picking up steam with D-II programs and even had D-I schools doing their due diligence.
The ascent of North Paulding coincides with the improvement of Jayda Jackson Jayda Jackson 5’5″ | PG North Paulding | 2024 State GA . She has trimmed her body with muscle and has elevated her offensive skill, hitting jumpers and creating downhill. Jackson cashed in on a pair of threes on her way to 13 points in a 40-29 win over Campbell. The game has slowed down for Jayda. She continues to get better and better.
Highlights
I liked what I saw out of Jada in a 50-39 win over Mt. Paran. First off, it looks like Bates has grown even more, now standing at what looks like a legit 6-foot-4. Jada used her length to get to the basket and score through contact. Her floater was difficult to guard. Once Jada saw her three-ball wasn’t falling was when she got downhill. Getting to the basket consistently was an issue last year when I watched, but on Saturday it looked as if she had made corrections to her game. She finished with 15 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Bates’ upward trajectory is back on track. Her upside is immense.
I love the energy and effort Amanda plays with. She gets after it as a 5-foot-7 swingman, playing way bigger than her listed height. Eziukwu is a springy athlete. She’s quick to deflections and rebounds well for her size. She provided 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals.
Nayel fills up the stat sheet with her constant activity. She tallied 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals against Jefferson. Camper can play 1-3 with her versatility and is a well-rounded scorer.
Karen is a toolsy wing with athleticism and length. She looks good in transition getting to the hoop and can defend multiple positions. The lefty is a strong three-point shooter.
