Here are some that impressed me on Saturday, I had to do extra legwork to find out they were but here ya go
Tamia Green (SA Finest Red)
Green made me think about my “long and athletic” and saying that is the base yet she’s also “strong and athletic” and she appears to be around “the magic number” which is 6’0 and what I mentioned so far will bring in college coaches yet what about her intangibles. She rebounds on both ends and runs the floor, on both ends but her scoring around the basket with power, putbacks included, had me smiling, in fact, I’m going to tweet a picture out to give you a picture
Bailey Barrett (SA Finest Red)
Barrett was definitely a surprise and I love athletic guards that use their athleticism on both ends of the court. She immediately showed her “on the ball” pressure, baseline to baseline, was smothering yet on the flip, her first step was effective and powerful but so were her finishes after contact. I saw her use body control to stay with it after contact so that tells you about her strength yet her mid-to-range shooting was nice, she even dropped the stop-and-pop jumper in transition
Rileigh Good (SA Finest Red) 2027
Good is one of those players I had a glimpse of a few months ago at the Southwest Showcase yet it’s still ALL GOOD and she showed me even more in this setting which is why I emphasize placing yourself in front of someone knowledgeable as much as possible. Her mid to long range was impressive, yeah I knew she could create her shot but she’s knocking it down with a hand in her face and her attacking the basket using a deceptive first step and finishing after the lick
Nyla Anderson (SA Finest Red)
Anderson handled the ball under pressure and her steadiness at seeing the floor as well as attacking the basket off the dribble were all big pluses yet she kept adding. She played the passing lane, she even grabbed some boards and handled the ball in the open court, yes she hit teammates while going full speed in transition but she also hit the jumper in transition as well as in the set. Her showing the “catch and shoot” was nice, and so was her defensive pressure
Emily Archer (OBT Hoops) Lake Travis [2025]
Archer hit the bullseye several times, did you catch that? Probably not but her teammates caught her passes as she saw the floor numerous times but I was impressed with her setting the defender up to attack the basket and score. She’s heady and plays within herself but she also does a good job of not only creating her shot but knocking it down from mid to long range and she was another player that did a good job with the “catch and shoot”
Ivy Kerrington (OBT Hoops) Lake Travis [2025]
Kerrington was steady and understands how to get hers “in the flow” yet she can flip the switch and let it flow. I also enjoyed watching her consistently attack the basket and show solid body control on her finishes was nice but so was her creating her shot and knocking down the jumper. She played solid defense and saw the floor, good upside
