Maleah Mason is not a NEW FACE but I hadn’t seen her in a minute, in fact, I only caught a glimpse of her talented Cy Fair squad but here’s what I saw
Ahnoe Campbell (Just Play) is only a 2029 yet her upside is intriguing for a number of reasons. She’s strong and powerful and already understands how to use her body around the basket but I guess watching her score with players literally hanging on her gave me a boost. Her hands and footwork are showing signs of being BIG in her offensive game, yet she also did a good job scoring off the dribble as well as in front of the basket
Kayla Ruthenmadathil (Just Play) showed court vision ahead of her years and watching her thread the needle in the set as well as in transition was nice. She understands how to create her shot under pressure and watching her not only attack the basket and score off the dribble using a deceptive first step, but her body control was also nice. Her pull-up jumper is smooth, she dropped it with a hand in her face showing she could hit it in transition
Reese Scott (Just Play) did a good job defending both in the half court as well is in the full court and her already knowing how to make the offensive player pick up their dribble by beating them to the spot had me smiling yet her hands are nice, she came away with steals as well as helped create turnovers by applying pressure
Annie Smith (Just Play) rebounded on both ends of the court, yeah that’s nice, but she also did a good job handling the ball in the open court. Her court vision was nice, she hit teammates on the money both in the set as well as in transition and she also scored off the dribble, this includes after contact. One of the biggest things I enjoyed was watching her play the passing lane over and over, and handle the ball afterward. She also hit the boards on both ends
Mabry Reef (Just Play) is a hard-nosed defender and her work ethic alone sold me immediately. She dove for loose balls on the floor, went after them in the air, and outrebounded taller players, on both ends. You can’t teach heart or desire and that falls into my #THROWBACK category because I love seeing things from another era that you just can’t teach. She set the defender up to attack the basket and she finished strongly after contact. She also dropped the short jumper
Skylar Conway (Cy Fair Jaylee) is long and athletic with a scary upside and just a glimpse of her playing the passing lane and handling the ball in the open court grabbed my attention but watching her glide to the basket off the dribble and finish told me a lot. She elevates over the defender to score around the basket but that same elevation works on her jumper which she can drop while being defended. On the flip, she does a good job defending as well as rebounding
Maleah Mason (Cy Fair Jaylee) has been dazzling me for quite some time and her savviness on the court is still way ahead of her years, she’s a 2030. She understands how to “control the tempo” and get her teammates involved yet her seeing the floor while being pressured in the open court keeps getting better. She creates her shot with ease and knocks it down from outside as well as taking it to the basket off the dribble and score
Zoe Torres (Just Play Select Blue) is also young and gets “IT” so her ballhandling is smooth and she already has a variety of moves to get by the defender. Her slight “HEZ” that’s hesitation or the HEZZIE in case you didn’t know, is going to be one of her “go-to” moves because she does it effortlessly. When you factor in that she also knocks it down from outside, that’s BIG
