I believe there’s a mix of kids that would intrigue coaches from the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026. Today, we’ll highlight a few of them and what they could bring to a program at the next level.
Mackenzie Tarman Mackenzie Tarman 6'0" | SF Turtle Lake | 2024 State WI
Sometimes, small school kids can fly under the radar. However, I believe schools will pick up on Tarman just before July. She’ll be at the Recruit Wisconsin unless something else keeps her from attending. However, if coaches see her, they’ll gain some initial interest. She’s a 6-0 or 5-11 wing with a knack for putting the ball in the basket. I think she’d be an excellent small-school kid.
Peed may not be the biggest name to draw small-school interest, but she’s a plug-and-play kid. I love that she can do some of everything as an off-ball guard. Peed’s this energetic defender who plays at the top of Eau Claire Memorial’s press, can knock down perimeter jumpers, get to the rim, finish with both hands and seems like a kid who coaches would trust with the ball to make decisions in close games. She’s another that WIAC schools will learn about at Recruit Wisconsin and draw a fair bit of interest from multiple schools in that conference.
Lodes jumped out to me the first time I watched Kettle Moraine this season. The Laser is a 5-11 wing with plenty of athleticism and the ability to make shots. I believe that she’s a kid who’ll pop up on coaches’ radars more so next high school and AAU season as she gets a more prominent role at KM. Lodes could probably play basketball or run track at the next level, so if a program lands her for their basketball team, they’ll have a high-end athlete that can make plays with the ball in their hands and defend well the second she steps on campus.
Megan Geason Megan Geason 5'11" | SF Oak Creek | 2025 State WI
Geason is playing up with one of Impact’s 17U teams, and there’s a chance she’s one of the kids who could blow up next season. Geason can get to the rim seemingly whenever she wants. At Oak Creek these past two seasons, they played a slower tempo, and her athleticism wasn’t as necessary as in AAU. The biggest thing for her is that she improves her shot to better slot in as a wing and get the most out of her game. If things break right for her, I think plenty of schools in the Midwest will come and have a look at her next summer.
