Continue ReadingConsistency has become a calling card for Hoard. Her presence on the perimeter gives the Leopards a veteran standout to turn to. She did well attacking the basket throughout camp. Her instincts defending out top helps Banks County force turnovers. D-II, D-III and NAIA programs will want to track her play this month.
Carson Demars
Carson Demars
The Wofford soccer-commit has become a valuable piece on the hardwood for the Bears. While her shot will never be orthodox, Carson’s motor and overall effort help her remain effective. She uses her footspeed to cover ground defensively and has a knack for getting into the paint where she can flip in floaters.
With Hannah Golden down with a knee injury, fresh off missing her sophomore season with an ACL tear of her own Avery Huffman Avery Huffman 5’5″ | SG Denmark | 2025 State GA is back in the fold and will serve a key role as the third prong of the Danes attack. Huffman is a solid role player that helps out across the board. She rebounds well for her size and is an unselfish guard on offense. Denmark may need her to look for her shot more often however and if they do, Avery can provide a spark as a dangerous three-point shooter. At camp, Huffman scored off the dribble and snuck in for putbacks.
South Forsyth will look totally different to outsiders as a historic 2023 class is out the door. Amelia Brown Amelia Brown 5’7″ | SG South Forsyth | 2025 State GA will slide in as presumably one of the War Eagles’ top scoring options on the perimeter. Brown could fulfill a role similar to that of Sharon Tolliver and Clara Morris, serving as a heavily relied upon ball handler but more importantly a floor spacing three-point shooter. Brown can shoot from distance both off the dribble and off the catch. Don’t be surprised if she is able to crack 20 points in multiple games her junior season.
Morgan Lovell
Morgan Lovell
I saw flashes of upside in Morgan Lovell’s JV performance against South Forsyth. The rising freshman can instinctually go behind the back and has a little wiggle with the ball. Her most impressive moment came on a step-back three off the bounce. As Morgan fills into her body and gets more reps, don’t be surprised to see her play a substantial role for the LadyCats in due time.
