Continue ReadingWhen I first saw her as an eighth grader, I was blown away with Kimya’s ball handling. That same ball-on-a-string handle has now graduated onto the varsity level. The rising sophomore is so reliable with the ball. She’s built like a running back, strapped with muscle so no opponent will be able to fluster her physically. Jones shot the ball well at camp, netting a three in each of her three games while mixing in a pull-up jumper from the mid-range.
I like Hope’s quickness. She’s agile on the perimeter and is able to beat her first defender when attacking the basket. Mitchell slides to the hoop and will finish with either hand. Her jump shot is a pretty, a threat to bury threes or get to her spots in the mid-range.
Christen is a small guard but she’s been in the weight room and has sudden bursts of speed. She likes to use her crossover to get defenders off balance. The lefty uses her body well when getting to the hoop. She can draw fouls and finish through contact. Collins also has the green light to let it fly from the three-point line.
Cam is sharp as a tack. She is the definition of a jitterbug, blinding speed as she darts around the court. Her quick reaction time and high motor make her a nuisance in the press. Golston has a pretty three-point shot and has shown the ability to squeak her way all the way to the basket when needed. She has a really good future even more so if she can squeeze out another inch or two.
Highlights
The track star won a state title her first year as a distance runner and brings that same relentless motor to the hardwood. Moore likes to get to the hoop and finish with scooping layups. She is a vocal leader and an improving ball handler. In a tight win over Model, Ansley racked up 10 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals.
